On my way home from shopping I passed a house sale, I did the U-turn thingy and went in....Most everything was gone that I would have liked...but I "just had to look" in the pile of linens and blankets..and there she was....intact except for the border. I geared myself for the "how much is this" conversation, only have $15.00 left in my pocket. The lady said "oh, that old thing. It's got rust all over it. You can have it for $1.00". I almost lost my breath, got out my dollar and left. I got the brown spots out with oxyclean...don't think it was rust;, washed her on gentle, put her in the dryer for 10 min and hung her to dry. Isn't she great?????

cminor 05-01-2010 04:42 AM

A dollar?????? I feel bad for whoever spent that much time making it. But, I am sure doing the happy dance for you. It is a beauty.

dsb38327 05-01-2010 04:48 AM

Beautifull work, pretty quilt. Thank-you for adopting it and saving it from death in a landfill. It is too bad not everyone has the passion for quilts. I am glad there are those of us who do.

I am just drawn to that pattern. Does someone know the name of the pattern?

Lacelady 05-01-2010 04:50 AM

What a great find - will you put on a new border?

mrsjdt 05-01-2010 05:02 AM

I'll do a new border. I do plan to use it when my great grand daughter comes to stay. So pretty .... and pink.

seamstress 05-01-2010 05:53 AM

ranger 05-01-2010 06:24 AM

What a bargain you got. Good for you and the quilt. Strange me....I always think quilts have feelings.LOL. Isn't it wonderful to give new life to a quilt that was made by someone else, especially when so much work went into the making of it.

charmpacksplus 05-01-2010 06:37 AM

One dollar???? Some people just have no clue how much those old quilts are worth and how much love went into them. That one is a real treasure. Aren't you glad you did the U-turn thingy!! That quilt was just calling out your name.
