Lots of 2" squares!
 

I found a similar scrappy quilt layout online, and started to assemble the scrappy squares and the white borders. Then I decided that I really didn't want a square quilt, but a rectangular one. So I added the top portion and grabbed some hexies from another project and appliqued them on. The top is not yet quilted....I'm thinking about that, and am not sure yet what I will do. By the way, this hardly made a dent in the number of 2" squares that I have!

Great use of squares. Love the row to make it a rectangle. I have a huge bag of 2" squares. Those 2" squares seem to multiply every time I use them. I've started to make placemats and also use that strip of batting left over from trimming quilts.

You could use any size squares. I just happened to have TONS of 2". I did put this into EQ to keep the dimensions straight!

Once on the bed, the applique portion will look great over the pillows....you've added your own special touch to this quilt....

Great job on your quilt top! I used that pattern too but just added to the top and bottom, I really like your idea to "unsquare" it!

Seems like small squares are like hangers, they reproduce in the dark. Beautiful quilt and I too love the way you increased the size by adding that top border. Hopefully I'll remember that some day when I need to do the same thing.

I am working on a quilt that is all 2" squares. It has been a long process and I still need (want) to make it a little larger but still need more variety in my squares. It is about 90" by 90" and I am hoping for 90" by 108".
