Well first and foremost I got to spend my extended lunch break with very sweet people. Ms. Dovie - owner of Quilting and Fabric Shop in Channelview, TX, Shirley (sak658) and to finally meet Joan (Jabear617) and a bonus her adorable niece & sister Judy! So much fun, unfortunately...I had to go back to work. Hopefully, we can do it again soon!!!

Anyway...I hope you're sitting down. I bought 50 yds of material. Yes, f-i-f-t-y. I know you probably think I'm insane..."maybe", but....

how often can you buy QS material for $1/yd...yes, $1.00!!!

I just couldn't wait to get home & fondle it. And here's hoping that I won't have to go shoping for my swaps :)

Had to take a single shot...it's just too pretty

What a great way to spend your lunch time!   Who needs food anyway! LOL
Great fabrics!

katesnanna 01-11-2011 06:17 PM

Wow!!! How lucky are you. LQS would never sell fabric for $1.00 here in Australia. If I found quilt fabric for $1.00 I think I'd mortgage the house. You got some beautiful fabrics. Have fun.

PS Are you going to divulge the name of the shop?

GwenH 01-11-2011 06:19 PM

Very nice... I love shopping for fabric, but when you can get it that cheap it's so much better!!

Ann L 01-11-2011 06:20 PM

Good for you. No better way to spend lunch than with friends who help you build your stash.

Sweetness 01-11-2011 06:20 PM

heheheh...disclaimer in case my bf reads :)

I used restraint...I chose not to buy 4-5 of the fabrics available for this price AND...I only bought the $1/yd fabrics.

Last saturday I bought almost 30 yds because calico's were $2/yd and other stuff (which is EXTREMELY reasonable to begin with) was 1/2 off.

And there's still a few more that I want and hope I can get them while they're still on sale, but I have to spread it out a lil :)

I keep waiting for my other half to say...ummm so when are you going to make something with all that??? LOL.

pdcakm 01-11-2011 06:21 PM

i think for $1 per yard i would have been tempted to buy more. good day.

Is it too expensive to ship? Sorry, don't know much about international stuff but would be willing to shop & ship if it would help :)

She's trying to move product out so she can bring new product in so she's got some great discounts going right now. I spent $100 last friday and got close to 30 yds... they're here:

There was some when I left. But Jabear617 & her Sis were just starting to get theirs. There was probably 25-30 bolts at $1yd. I got some of almost all of them & they were pretty hefty bolts in most instances.

Calico's (which there was plenty of) were still $2/yd and everything else was still 1/2 off (originally prices before discount were about $2-3/yd cheaper than most LQS).

Don't know when she plans to end that (you might PM Shirley (sak658) but everything was included, marbles, batiks...GREAT deals. Well worth the trip!

imjustme 01-11-2011 06:39 PM

You have fabric for some beautiful projects. Be sure to post when you make them.

Congrats on your find.

sumcoop 01-11-2011 10:40 PM

OMG you got some great fabrics and amazing price!

Sheila Elaine 01-12-2011 01:44 AM

If I had the money & still worked outside my home, I'd be happy to have lunch with all of you & load my SUV up & haul it back to Alabama. Where do I buy Lotto Tickets???? LOL! I've never played Lotto & prob never will, so little chance of that happening.

CoventryUK 01-12-2011 01:47 AM

Here in UK we can only dream of buying fabric at those prices!!!! Am I green with envy?? You bet!!!!
