I am guilty of starting this in My PDA, and am now moving it to pictures. the reason I started it there, was because it is going to be a long drawn out process, and will take a few weeks to finish, and didn't think anyone would be interested in it this early in the process.
This is a Navy and Blue pattern that I have had on my to do list for about 10 years. I am usually a scrap quilter, using several different materials in the same quilt, so this is a big step out of my comfort zone.
the first thing is to decide on the material. the finished quilt will be 90 inches by 108 inches. When I went to purchase the fabric, I had not written down how much I needed of each color. I came home with 4 yards of navy and 3 yards of white. And upon reading the directions, I realized that I didn't have enough material. So back I go to buy 3 more yards of navy and 1 more yard of the white.
Here is the pieces that I picked out.

the first step was to start cutting it into strips, and all the setting rectangles.

And on to the sewing of the strips together. And then ironing all of them. Here are some of them done.

Ooh Ninnie

You just can't go wrong with Navy & White - I know from your previous work that this too is going to be a beauty. Is the Navy fabric a spot or star design, I wasn't able to download & enlarge to see it properly.

After having all the strip sets done, the cutting and sewing starts.

the first ones I did were the 2 white with 1 blue in the middle, and the 2 blue with 1 white in the middle.

Next I will take the strip sets that are made up of 1 1/2 in white strip, and 1 1/2 inch navy strips and cut them into 1 1/2 in segments and then sew them into 80 4 patches. :D this is what I will be working on tonight ! :D
Hope you enjoy following along with me, this will be at least another week in the works, I am a slow worker and I do pin all of those places where the patches meet up.

the navy has white dots in it, I didn't want to use a solid, and the white is a small print, white on white! :D

Thank you for putting this in here! :-)

I've never thought of tying up the little bundles like you did at the start, that's an excellent idea, especially for huge amounts. Thank you for sharing :-)

Thank you for sharing the process. Now I can't wait to see the finished quilt. Looking great so far.

Actually, I'm fascinated to see the steps you took. Thanks for posting it. And I love the fresh look of dark blue and white together - beautiful choice of fabrics!
