We are experiencing devastating floods here. We are OK but it has been raining practically non stop for days and days and it is best to keep off the roads and inside, so I have been able to indulge in guilt-free sewing. This is what I have made in the last week, except for the teacher's bag which I made my granddaughter for Christmas. Funnily enough her 19 year old brother thought it was really cool. She has moved to a town in the country for her first teaching job so I have made the cushions for her new bedroom and the needlecase for emergencies. One of the cushions coordinates with a quilt I made for her.

And a pretty bag just for myself

They are all beautiful.

Aww you make her feel special knowing you sent some of you with her. Your talent reflects your love. SO nice.

Truly hope the rain doesn't do as much damage as it does good. I never knew you had MonSumes there as they do in Asia. Well, they do have them many places as in California USA this past month. I'll keep you in my prayers.

Blessings, Ruth

I've seen some of the video of your area & the flooding. Really looks frightening. Glad you are safe & enjoying stitching away. Your work is lovely.

beautiful work

Mrs B 01-11-2011 01:00 AM

I do hope you are in a safe place. The news cast we just saw here in Adelaide was terrifying. That huge wall of water that hit Toowoomba was devestating. It is expected to arrive in Brisbane tomorrow. So make sure you are in a safe place and have an escape route planned.

What varied and beautiful work! We've had a lot of rain down here in Somerset too but nowhere near as serious as you're experiencing down there. Take care and stay safe. Keep sewing too!

What wonderful things you have created. It saddens me to see photos of the devastation in Australia from the floods. My heart goes out to you and your country.

mirabelle 01-11-2011 02:39 PM

Hi Caer Urfa, whereabouts in Queensland are you, hope you are all ok. My husband and I watched as Toowoomba was flooded and I cried, we were both born there and it was to watch the furniture store where we bought our first bed being destroyed, or the hotel across the road where I worked before I was married with so much devastation. So many memories for us, We have friends who lived at Murphys Creek and haven't been able to contact them.

Hope you and your family are out of the flood area

We are in Brisbane but high and dry. The devastation has been dreadful. It must have been terrifying for those people in the wake of the tsunami. I hope your friends are all right, Murphys Creek was in the thick of it. I have a nephew and family in Toowoomba and am waiting to hear they are OK. He is manager of Harvey Norman and I don't know if they were in the CBD?

quiltedlamb07 01-11-2011 04:09 PM

they are all beautiful, you are so talented

mirabelle 01-11-2011 04:10 PM

So pleased to hear you are not in the midst of all this. It seems since Christmas I have been constantly phoning family to see if they are ok. Relatives in Bundaberg, Rockhampton, Gin Gin, Toowoomba, brother in Dalby and Aunts and Uncles in Brisbane.

We are in Far North Queensland in Ingham, and we had minor flooding on the Christmas weekend but nothing major

Stay dry

prezzy 01-11-2011 04:31 PM

thequilteddove 01-12-2011 04:31 AM

I LOVE the needle case!

quilt3311 01-12-2011 04:52 AM

Saw the devastation on TV. My heart goes out to you all and prayers to keep everyone safe. I went through a flood in 1990 and lost lots of "stuff". Always thought I was materialistic, but realized it was just that. "stuff" Realized that the important thing was people, not stuff.

tdgiffin 01-12-2011 04:56 AM

Your work is beyond lovely. that teacher bag touched my heart. it is so sweet!

Anne Marie 01-12-2011 05:13 AM
