This is my newest quilt. Piecing was finished on Memorial Day (just for my Vet) and I have now completed the quilting and binding in time for his Birthday and Father's Day. It's a little early, but then considering it's the first one I've done for my DH, perhaps it's a little late

Still new to this...

It measures 61 X 75

Beautiful quilt and quilting. Did he know you were making it for him? Or is it a surprise?

I wasn't able to surprise him... kind of hard when he's always in my sewing room/computer room. I think he's happy though.

Fantastic quilt. Your DH sure looks cumphy and very happy.

shopbelt 06-05-2011 01:15 PM

Thanks everyone... It turned out to be one of the toughest quilts I've made thus far. I've only been piecing for a few years, and quilting for one. And since I only do this on weekends (I'm a teacher), I'm pretty proud of this one. ;)

moonwork42029 06-05-2011 01:16 PM

nice indeed...glad he was an "active" part of it, lol.

quiltinggirl 06-05-2011 01:18 PM

Awww, how pretty is this and it appears your DH is happy to receive it! Would you mind sharing the name of the pattern?

Thank you, the pattern's name is Pinwheels On Parade by Kristin Gassaway www.thirlledtopieces.com and the fabrics were from Connecting Threads.

Thank your Hubby for his service, and the quilt looks great, did you quilt it on a 'standard' machine?

I quilted it on my Janome you see in the background. I can't afford a longarm and I wouldn't have any room to put it if I did - but I can dream

mequilter 06-05-2011 01:27 PM

Very nice looking quilt & hubby. I'm sure he appreciates all of the work that goes into it.

Someone looks very happy with this terrific quilt. You will have more time to sew with the school year winding down. Enjoy your summer(I taught for 34 yrs. and I know how welcome that break can be!)

Lady Jane 06-06-2011 03:12 AM

He looks tickled with it!

GizmoFan13577 06-06-2011 03:19 AM

Very nice! The quilting looked awesome...did you do the stippling(?) on a long arm machine, or your sewing machine? Either way, looked great! I had been wanting a new sewing room for quite some time, so after I made my husband a quilt for his 45th birthday he decided we needed to add a sewing room. I now have a 950 sq ft sewing room addition to our house!
