If I coulkd go incognito, I would post a pic. But, my name and info is just to the left of this post! YIKES!!!!

All I can say ladies is that old saying, "Creative minds are never neat". It looks like a lot of creativity goes on in those photos. Wish I had a space large enough to look like them! I work on a tray table that blocks the whole traffic flow, so I have to take care of it several times a day so we can get in/out or make meals.

Kara 12-05-2010 04:06 AM

I don't have a "sewing room" (oh, I'm wishing I did most days, too). I sew at the kitchen table which is the same table we homeschool at and eat all our meals at.

One benefit - I'm forced to clean up my "mess" constantly.

One downfall - all that putting away and taking back out takes up a LOT of sewing time!

Ok, maybe two downfalls - it all lands on the counter separating the kitchen from the table...

I keep trying to talk hubby into giving my the garage :)

Okay, I would not call that messy. That looks wonderful compared to the other rooms posted.

You girls have just made my day!!! Thanks so much!!!!

Love it. It only shows that you guys are more interested in quilting than having a picture-prefect Home and Gardens set-up. True works of art and a lot of love grow out of this apparent turmoil. As for me, I abandoned my sewing room. Just use it for storage and do my sewing and hand quilting out among the living.

barbsmith 12-05-2010 06:14 AM

I had to bring my husband in here to show him these sewing rooms so he would see that I am not the only one whose sewing room isn't always perfect. I also pointed out to him all of your fabric stashes. Thanks, I think I am going out to buy more.

sunbonnetsue 12-05-2010 06:17 AM

Tee hee-looking at others' messes makes you feel good about your own!

Connie in CO 12-05-2010 06:18 AM

Chamby,my machine is in the kitchen.

stitchinwitch 12-05-2010 06:32 AM

Its comforting to know - I am NOT the only one ------ but hey! there were a couple pics that were not messy in the slightest!! Whats up with that?

Tina BH 12-05-2010 06:32 AM

i am happy to know my mess is so much like the ones posted here. I think it's an indication of a creative mind at work. When we have the mess it's a byproduct of the project(s) we are working on. My sewing room is the same as these. and my mom always had a room that looked like these. Once my sister and I decided to "clean" the sewing room as a surprise for mom. Years later she told us she couldn't find anything for weeks. Now I understand what we did to her!! At the time she thanked us though!

Dodee 12-05-2010 07:06 AM

Oh, my - wait until I show my husband and daughter some of these pictures. Ha.
By the way - you know the saying:

MESSY ROOMS HAVE THE MOST CREATIVE PEOPLE.

I don't know when I'm going to start getting creative tho' but I'm half way there with the messy room

Pete 12-05-2010 08:07 AM

Thank you for the pictures. Am going to show them to my husband so he can stop ranting about mine!

OMG, glad my DH didn't see that one. I had to school him in the affliction of fabricholicism. He had the nerve to suggest I was a hoarder. He was absolutely joking and realized the err of his ways when I started rattling off all the "tools" gathering dust in his garage.

Oh, I feel so much better to know there are so many other gals out there just like me! Wait til I tell my daughter, who is a minimalist and would love to get her hands on my sewing room! You've made my day all of you so thank you very much. Now I can hold my head high, stand up really straight knowing I'm not alone.

Of course you are not alone, I say as I stand up straight with you. :-) I would be willing to bet that over 70 % of us have 'cluttered' or not very neat sewing rooms rather than neat and tidy. As for me, I feel cozy when I am in mine, surrounded by all those possibilities. If I don't hit the trash can with the strings, who cares. I vacuum up when I am finished. My kids do say that they will hate cleaning out my sewing room worst, when I have gone. I say to them..well, I told you life wasn't fair! :-)

Confederate Rose 12-05-2010 08:50 AM

Out of these rooms comes the most beautiful quilts!!! Mine is too messey to take pictures. Sewing machine is in the shop anyway.

Connie in CO 12-05-2010 08:53 AM

You know,i just want mine cleaner, not perfect I'm not a perfect person,i can't keep anything clean.

Dixieldy 12-05-2010 09:02 AM

Wow Ladies.... You have so much!!!! And finding places to put things seem impossible doesn't it? Well, I have this 4x8 table in my sewing room. I put all my fabrics in plastic bins and then push them under the table, Out of sight!! lol Just getting back in my sewing room after a fire, so I will have to take pics once I have it all back in. Closet is FULL already! lol

DonnaB 12-05-2010 11:28 AM

This has been the best subject, I just laughed and laughed, great entertainment for this morning. Thank you...

PS - I do look real close at those rooms, you never know when you get a new idea to incorporate.

isewman 12-05-2010 12:20 PM

From Don-Oh my Lord..Do you need help, getting rid of anything(like material)ha-ha.. Take care Don

AlwaysQuilting 12-05-2010 12:33 PM

Since posting my messy sewing room picture a couple days ago I've found out we're on a week's leave from work. (unexpected layoffs).
So I guess now I don't have an excuse for not getting in there and attempting to straighten it up. Ain't gonna be easy!

I just came out for a break.I just don't know where I'm going to put it all.I know i just need to get busy and make a few big quilts and sew,sew sew.

Connie - I have that lonestar with hearts in the corners hanging on the wall...Mom got the panel for her church quilters to use but they said it was too pretty. So I hand quilted it for her wall and brought it home when she passed away. Thanks so much to all of you for the lessons and encouragement! I'm new from northern Minnesota Bonnie

Look what you made me go do today! LOL

And I'm leaving in a few minutes to pickup a nice office desk chair I found on Craig's List.

And my husband is going to help me make a larger top to add to the little cream desk so I have a cutting area to use instead of the dining room table.

Also talked to him about the ironing board & a board mounted above the closet with clamps so I can hang a design board and/or finished quilts (gotta take pictures right?)

So...I have all of you to blame for "making" me clean up today. Thanks a bunch!

butterflies5518 12-05-2010 03:05 PM

isn't that just awful of us all! Love the quilt on the ironing board.

I loved the quote. If I had to post a picture, I would probably get a prize too. My sewing area is in my bedroom, as is my file cabinet, my computer closet, and my bed, .....plus I love shoes, does that count? they are never all put away.
