I love it......looks great.

I don't think a pale yellow would do your baskets any justice. I like the orange. If you have some green in your stash that matches the border try placing some of that around as your sashing. Either the orange or a green would be my vote. Either way. It is a lovely pattern.

I'm not fond of orange but I really like it in your quilt. Very nice. Your baskets are lovely.

I would go with a paler version of that orange. You could always save what you cut for another project, maybe??
I also love what you did with the flowers :D

I agree

I like the orange, also. Just wondering if you would like it better if the sashing was maybe half the width than it is now?

roseOfsharon 02-14-2011 07:13 PM

I like the choice of the orange for the framing and borders!

Neena 02-14-2011 07:16 PM

I like the orange.

acesgame 02-14-2011 07:32 PM

Have you considered doing some sashings the orange, some a lighter peachy orange, some the spring green and a few the bright yellow. If you changed the sashing colors in a diamond shape, it would mimick the on point placement of your blocks and look deliberate. I personally would just like the colors to look like they faded into the other colors. You could try it out in your quilt program. That way you would still use some of the orange but you would get a fade effect that would then pop different colors in your different blocks. If you do decide to do this I would change the inner border to one of the "more subdued colors but I would keep the orange as the binding. Repeating the color in 3 areas (sashing, floral print and binding) makes it a winner. I am just not sure I would use it for all the bindings. Just wanted to give you a different idea.

Prism99 02-14-2011 07:37 PM

It's a question of balance.

It seems to me that the colors in the sashing and border are so intense they wash out the blocks. The problem really isn't the color of the sashing; it's the intensity of the color. I would look for a milder orange and perhaps a different border fabric. The baskets are very delicate, so a medium-intensity sashing and border fabric would set them off. What you have now are high-intensity sashing and border fabric, which create too much contrast. You need *some* contrast, so you don't want to go too pale, but this seems to me to be too intense.

gaumy 02-14-2011 07:56 PM

I like the orange too...looks very nice...

Butterflyblue 02-14-2011 08:05 PM

At first glance, I like the orange, but at second glance, it does overpower the blocks. I think a green, as someone else suggested, might look really nice. Not sure about yellow.

Patchwork Pam 02-14-2011 08:17 PM

I love it with the bright colors. It is a very happy quilt.

cindy4857 02-14-2011 08:52 PM

I like the orange, the yellow to me blends in to much.Your baskets are very pretty, can't wait to see it done.

plainpat 02-15-2011 03:01 AM

Love your baskets. My choice would be a narrow lt green ,then a thinner border with lt green binding. Will be watching to see your final quilt. Know it will be beautiful.

thenonnielady 02-15-2011 03:03 AM

I think green sashing would accent the baskets...the orange seems to wash them out a bit...my opinion.

karenpatrick 02-15-2011 03:12 AM

I love the quilt and the fabric and you've done a good job. But I think you might be right, the orange kind of washes out the baskets. Don't worry about wasting the sashing material, there is always another quilt down the road where you can use it. I love that border fabric. Pick another color from it, maybe the green and use it.

karenpatrick 02-15-2011 03:14 AM

Who makes the border fabric and where did it come from? Love it.

Greyhorse98 02-15-2011 03:29 AM

Sorry, but all I see is the sashing - my eyes are not drawn to the baskets at all. The orange border around the baskets is fine - the sashing takes away from them.

justlooking 02-15-2011 03:30 AM

I like it, the sashing around the blocks and the border too!

Scrap Happy 02-15-2011 03:39 AM

Your work is always so beautiful. At first glance I went with the orange. It goes nicely with the orange in the flowers. Then I looked again & again and think a softer color would make your beautiful baskets stand out more. I'm looking forward to hearing what you decide on.

19angel52 02-15-2011 04:10 AM

I vote orange also - and the print sashing really makes the baskets pop!

stephanie 02-15-2011 04:16 AM

I think a softer tone would look better, and not shout so much, but you still need contrast against the baskets. I like the flowery border. Try laying some strips of green over the orange, or a marbled, paler orange which would lighten the effect.

gaigai 02-15-2011 04:19 AM

The orange is pretty, and it does draw the eye, because it is so much bolder than the baskets. It's really up to you as to what effect you want to achieve. The baskets are really pretty, I love those soft colors.

luvngy 02-15-2011 04:33 AM

hubby is right the orange look great. Don't change a thing!!

baskets4daze 02-15-2011 04:33 AM

I think it is gorgeous myself!!

GladGrams 02-15-2011 05:58 AM

Don't get scared. The dark orange gives depth and life to the baskets. Maybe you aren't used to quilting with such lively colors. I think you will be extremely pleased when you are finished.

Anne Marie 02-15-2011 06:01 AM

Can you show us a picture of the yellow you might use next to the baskets?

Wendy Gordon 02-15-2011 06:03 AM

I like the colours together, i think the compliment each other very well.

mbeskosty12360 02-15-2011 06:04 AM

It is awesome just the way it is. Love it. If you don't like the way it comes out you can send it to me! :D

#1piecemaker 02-15-2011 06:05 AM

Very pretty and oh so SPRINGY. Love it. Use the flower print for the borders.

quilteragogo 02-15-2011 06:18 AM

I think I would use a green from the material to border it. very pretty blocks, and happy quilt

thequilteddove 02-15-2011 06:20 AM

i like it! great combo!

gmcsewer 02-15-2011 06:21 AM

I held up my finger in front of the orange border before the flowered one, and it did mute the effect of the orange around the blocks. But I do think orange is the right choice.

supergma 02-15-2011 06:28 AM

I like it, and I think you nailed the flowers you had worried about.

weezie 02-15-2011 06:48 AM

As you already know, the eye is immediately drawn to your bright sashing & borders, rather than the baskets. It looks good, BUT you have to decide whether the baskets or the frames are the primary "eye candy". If it's the baskets, I think you have to frame them with different sashing/border fabrics.

polly13 02-15-2011 07:03 AM

I love orange, but that particular orange is overpowering. A softer tone would work or do like the suggestion of trying a soft green. The baskets have ended up beautiful----I hate to see them get lost.

TootieAnn 02-15-2011 07:04 AM

I like the orange.

Elliotsgreatgrandma 02-15-2011 07:16 AM

I would like to see the flowers centered in the white and a little orange one in the center.( like the little one in the border.) I love the colorers and the pattern. Great job.

joyce888 02-15-2011 07:35 AM

I like it with the orange. I think the pale yellow would not offer enough contrast from the baskets and would wash everything out. A medium or bright yellow will overpower the entire quilt. Yellow is a very powerful color.
