They also make a great centerpiece piled in a big glass bowl.

Very unique. I will be making some (next year). You have a great eye for color.
I made one of these years ago & haven't attempted another. You do such beautiful work & such variety - your friend is fortunate to have you in his life.
Those are just beautiful! I wouls SO love to know how to do this. I will check out the Google site.
BEAUTIFUL !

I found two sites where you can print the directions.
www.make-stuff.com/projects/quiltball.html www.ehow.com/how/_4763238_quilted-christmas-ornament.html I also found a site where you do not use pins but poke the material into the styrofoam with a butter knife. My daughter and I made some of these several years ago and they do not last well. |
Wow fantastic ornaments, love them all.
you need to use pins and they will last just fine. it takes approximately 200 pins for each oirnament I just bought cheap ones from walmart and they worked just fine!!
Again here is the link to how to make these. these are the direction I used
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OB9S-rxIe6w I have a girlfriend that made these with her brownies years ago and they are still doing just fine.. I definately say you need to use the pins to secure the material..

Beautiful, do you have any extra? The more I look at these, I just love them.
I wonder if you could use the short pins that are sold for crafts?
How pretty - how do you attach the ribbon bows on top?
We get together and make christmas candy. I made these and gave them as gifts at our candy making party......
Absolutely gorgeous...every last one of them!!
If I were the recipient of one of these I would not put it on my tree. I would get a single ornament stand/hanger and display it in a spot all its own..on the mantle the piano etc. They are beautiful!!
Thanks - Maybe I'll give them a try sometime this winter.
Your fingers must be killing you from all of those pins! A gorgeous result though. Beautiful!

So pretty...I done some years ago but now I don't have the pattern. I should Google and find one and get some done for next year.
You could decorate a whole tree with all of yours. That would be very pretty! |
They are fanastic. Your choice of colors and metalics just wonderful. Thanks for where I can find directions.
Merry Christmas. |

Oh those are so beautiful! They bring back special memories. LOVE them!
I have one that was made for me by my now deceased great-aunt about 25 years ago and I cherish it. thanks for posting the photos warm quilt hugs, sue in CA |
I have been making these ornaments for several years now.. They are so beautiful. I add some beads, sequins, stones, etc. to the points of the star. I have 3 grands and make a new one for each one every year.. I have embroidered their name and the year on a tag, and I hang a tag on the bottom of each ornament I make.. I hope to keep making them for years.. That way, when they are grown they will each have their own tree of quilted ornaments made by their grandma.. (don't tell, but I make them in spurts.. then choose one and put their name tag on and present it at Thanksgiving! I have perhaps 20 or so waiting in a box... shhh...)

They are just beautiful!

Sooo pretty! I have a good friend that has a fabric and craft store locally here. She gives me discounts on fabric all the time. She taught me how to do these ornaments. On nights when I don't feel well and I am filled with anxiety. I sit down and just make a few of these. Takes my mind off things and people just love them as gifts...thank you for sharing. Blessings and Merry Christmas
so pretty! I'd like to make one of those someday
