This is going to be the perfect project for me and my 11 year old granddaughter. I think she will have a blast making them with her Nana.

I tried making one a long time ago and it came out kind of wonky so I put it aside. Thanks for reminding me how beautiful they can be.

They are beautiful !! Did you make up the pattern ? I would love to make some, thanks for sharing !

Your ornaments are absolutely beautiful! You do lovely work. I saw these ornaments posted before and wanted to make some, but I couldn't find a source for buying the pins in bulk. Also, do you have a specific type and size of pin that you use? I would love to know if you have a source for ordering the pins and the type of pin that you used. Thanks.

OK....you inspired me! I went to Joann's today and got fabric, pins and styrofoam balls! Am going to tackle these with my sister tomorrow!

anniec55 12-17-2010 06:42 PM

OMG!! Those are beyond words! How long does it take you to make one? Patience must be one of your strong points!! Gorgeous!

NO I just go to Walmart and buy regular steel pins... I had to go every couple weeks because I would buy them all up... It takes 200 pins for one ornament..

It takes about 1 hour and 15 minutes to put it together, plus another 15 -20 minutes cutting your fabric.

Wow! Everyone you did is like a work of art! The people that are getting them are very lucky.

aberi 12-20-2010 02:52 AM

thanks marmalade.... I'm sure my friend in the nusing home will have a lot of fun giving them to the staff that takes care of him... Every year I make 30 gifts of some kind for him to give to the staff that takes care of him.... He loves to be able to give them something different and they love to get it!

My sister and I made one each over the weekend. Still have to finish the edging and a hanger, but will post a picture when I'm done. It looks pretty good!
