I just became obsessed with the men's cotton shirts thanks to Bonnie Hunter, I have made this pattern before and will make it again...it is the perfect size for a cover up. Everyone fights over my other one. I left the pockets on the quilt so it will have little pockets all over the quilt. It is flat, I didn't lay it out real well, I was in a hurry :D Hope you like it,

I LOVE this! Now I know what to do with my shirt scraps left over from another quilt! This is perfect!

Love it, so fresh looking. I can see why they're fighting over it.Do you mind me asking the size of your blocks? :-D

Lilrain 04-09-2011 04:31 PM

if one needs an obsession, I think men's cotton shirts is a good one! Nice job

bugsmom 04-09-2011 04:31 PM

Super idea.

bamamama 04-09-2011 04:48 PM

I have been buying mens shirts at the thrift store too. They have one day a week at the one near me that you get everything you can stuff in the bag for $5. I roll them and cram in as many as I can. I'll make a quilt with them eventually.

bamamama 04-09-2011 04:49 PM

I like your quilt! Very appropriate pattern!

bluteddi 04-09-2011 04:49 PM

jlbear 04-09-2011 05:21 PM

What is the name of this pattern? I have some shirts that I'd like to make a lap-sized quilt out of. This is great!

OMG - fabulous idea! I just found a box of mending things in a closet and of course, my DH has gained a lot of weight since I hid the box - so now he can't wear the shirts, etc. - so was going to donate the shirts - now I have a wonderful idea of what to do with them!

earthwalker 04-09-2011 05:33 PM

I have attached a pic of my baby with his hand in one of the pockets. My son has autism and has this collection of little bitty things....I figure he will put treasures in the pockets.

BETTY62 04-09-2011 06:02 PM

That's really nice.

debcavan 04-09-2011 06:05 PM

It is beautiful. Isn't it the greatest to literally make something beautiful out of nothing. I was so lucky to see Bonnie Hunter's quilts in person.

raedar63 04-09-2011 06:53 PM

I love Bonnies quilts.

Your simple pattern brings out the beauty in shirt tails!

Sandyb 04-10-2011 03:22 AM

Your quilt is very nice. I like how you set them up with the white.

Homespun 04-10-2011 04:23 AM

Love this idea--I have some shirting material that would work. The square with the white around looks like the Two-Step or potato chip quilt block.

cjaye44 04-10-2011 05:01 AM

I like it!! A perfect quilt for a teenage boy!! Thanks for the inspiration..

Scrap Happy 04-10-2011 05:29 AM

pollym44 04-10-2011 06:02 AM

Carrie, You just gave the members on this board a reason to raid the thrift shops. I know I will. Beautiful quilt!!!

cyniree 04-10-2011 06:54 AM

nice work

boxerlady 04-10-2011 06:59 AM

I like that quilt, have a bunch of men's shirts already, just need to pick up a few more. Good idea to leave the pockets on

Caroline S 04-10-2011 07:34 AM

Oh my, I love your quilt. Looks like another WIP to add to my mental idea box. Now I will begin to lovingly eye DH's seldom worn shirts in the closet. He hasn't worn a lot of them in a long time. I wonder if it has been long enough that he would not recognize them in a quilt?

gramquilter2 04-10-2011 08:47 AM

Nice job, perfect quilt for a guy.

AVQuilter 04-10-2011 09:41 AM

Oh my...this quilt is great and leaving the pockets on...what a super idea. Thanks for the nudge to make this one.
