I can't believe I found this today...It is 100"x120" KING Size...
It's in great shape...It has one triangle that is torn but the rest looks great...I paid $12.00 for it. I don't know how old it is, but it looks like older fabric. This is the 3rd quilt that I have found at GW...Just wanted to share with you all...Any ideas how hold it might be?

The whole quilt. King Size

Oh colorful and cheerful!

BarbaraTX 08-23-2011 01:16 PM

Can't help with the dating, but it's a great find.

Zhillslady 08-23-2011 01:16 PM

This is why I tell my daughter to use her quilts rather than save them. SHe and SIL don't want children so one day when they are gone the ones I make them will be found at the Goodwill.

blueangel 08-23-2011 01:17 PM

Awesome

Celeste 08-23-2011 01:21 PM

No idea about the age, but a nice save!

Lilrain 08-23-2011 01:25 PM

Are those cotton or perhaps poly knits? Maybe 70's or 80's if they are

craftybear 08-23-2011 01:25 PM

beautiful, it was meant for you to rescue it

Prism99 08-23-2011 01:30 PM

Cyn 08-23-2011 01:39 PM

Feels like poly/knit.

frarose 08-23-2011 02:42 PM

Yes back in the 70's quilts made from leftover fabrics from sewing clothing was poly knit. I made one back then and have a mixture of knit and cotton in it.

greensleeves 08-23-2011 02:58 PM

My guess-'70's. The stitching on top is great--took a lot of time. Nice find.

dltaylor 08-23-2011 03:00 PM

no such luck for me with GW here!!

jillnjo 08-23-2011 03:03 PM

I'd say the 70's, too. I have 2 very similar that my mom made for me when starting up housekeeping and we still use them for warm comforts.

mtnative 08-23-2011 03:38 PM

I agree with 70s. Reminds me of the quilt I have that my mom made out of polyknits left from the dresses she sewed.

frugalfabrics 08-23-2011 03:58 PM

gorgeous - stitching is really good

bisseau 08-23-2011 04:19 PM

Don't you just love shopping at Goodwill? Glad we have the pound store even cheaper prices and you never know what will show up each day. You got a beautiful quilt, Quilt Rescue believe it is. LOL

stacey65 08-23-2011 04:34 PM

enjoy

tinliz 08-23-2011 04:55 PM

Lucky you, great find!.
Love the way the quilter fastened the layers together with an embroidery stitch.

Jingle 08-23-2011 05:12 PM

Great find so good of you to save it. Looks like a mouse chewed it.

Our Goodwill only has clothes and junky stuff. The nice things we have taken must go to another part of the country.

Ditter43 08-23-2011 05:18 PM

What a fantastic buy!!! Someone spent a lot of time making that.

shemoo 08-23-2011 05:21 PM

beautiful

Nettie Phillips 08-23-2011 06:11 PM

Pretty. Looks like it is made with Double Knit material. My mother made some like that.

MimiLinda 08-23-2011 06:19 PM

Tweety2911 08-23-2011 06:48 PM

Great find!

mimicrystal 08-23-2011 07:28 PM

I got to looking real close at how this quilt was made. They took 2 squares right sides together, sew a stitch from corner to corner, open it up and sew four of these together to make a block, then she did an embroidery stitch around the block. There is no batting. It is made with double knit material. Very heavy. That is so cool. I've never seen one like it.

I think the nicest things are going to the Goodwill auction site. Also a nice way to get older things but a little more spendy in most cases.

Nice find!!

treeseek quilter 08-23-2011 10:22 PM

Enjoy...looks like it is in excellent condition. I would guess it would be the 60s or 70s type fabrics.

wanda lou 08-24-2011 12:20 AM

a great find.

cindy4857 08-24-2011 01:11 AM

My vote is for the 70's also. Sad thing is I remember some of those fabrics lol. Nice find Enjoy

QUILTNMO 08-24-2011 02:13 AM

thseabreze 08-24-2011 04:39 AM

very nice, you could replace the torn triangle.

piepatch 08-24-2011 05:51 AM

Very pretty quilt! Probably from the 70's or 80's if it is poly knit.

jeanneb52 08-24-2011 06:08 AM
