danmar, you quilt colors & layout are fantastic. What color will your border be? I'm a tad afraid of stars, but folks like you make them look easy. I promise I'll try at least one star before long. Are you in the Doll Quilt Swap for March. It's a lots of fun & we're assigned a partner to make a small quilt for. Lot of chatting back & forth & good way to get to know our partners, as well as other board members. TTUL..............

Love the fabric, pattern and well ... all of it  Did you work from a pattern or make it up yourself ? Great Job

BKinCO 03-01-2010 07:38 PM

I took a picture of the border material. Thank you for the compliments. These stars are all made out of half squares and are very easy to do. I'll take a close up picture of the star and post it. I'm sure that you would be able to do them. I'll PM you.

Oops! I lied! I'm sorry! I was thinking of a different quilt that I made when I said that the stars were made out of half squares.
This one has Flying Geese and half squares. I took a picture of it and one of the half square blocks. (The half square one is easier to do, I think.) Here's the Pictures.

I saw this pattern in a magazine but I didn't like their pattern. The pattern was for a 14" block, (too big!), and it was more of an applique pattern. You just cut the 8 points out in one piece each, and then used spray adhesive to glue them to a 14 1/2" square of white material, then zig zagged around them. I decided to just make my own regular 8 point star blocks, in a nice 9" block. Then I adjusted the Square-in-a-Square block to a 9" block too, and TA-DA! I have the quilt I wanted out of their idea.

Love your quilt and great job in making the pattern fit your needs.

Deecee 03-02-2010 03:53 AM

Love the quilt - my favourite colour, but I like the other star too.

bkb 03-02-2010 06:37 AM

Just wondering....have you ever made a "mistake"? Your work and color combo's look perfect! I am really amazed at your beautiful work

kkbrand 03-02-2010 06:38 AM

I love it, very nice piece work you are doing a great job!

renee765 03-02-2010 06:48 AM

Great job! I enjoy seeing the way your blocks have a 1/4 inch leeway for the seams so you don't lose your points. No matter what I do, I never seem to see that in my blocks!

Jim's Gem 03-02-2010 03:07 PM

Looks beautiful!!!

Jeannie34 03-02-2010 04:13 PM

Oh yes! Would you like to see an example? These 2 fabrics went together.....until I made a block out of them. Now they are orphans in my "orphan block" drawer. Eventually I'll make a quilt out of all of my orphans. Not all my orphans are mistakes. Some are extras or just changed my mind or whatever. Thank you for liking my work and calling it beautiful!

How do you like these colors??? HA-HA

bkb 03-02-2010 05:28 PM

Actually, yes, but not together! I like the idea of orphan blocks, instead of file 13 filler!

sewnsewer2 03-02-2010 05:44 PM

Wonderful job! Your points are so perfect too!

jljack 03-02-2010 06:14 PM

Really nice!! I can see that you do not shy away from the more complex patterns. Good for you!!! They come out looking great.

cmapco837 03-04-2010 08:15 AM

very creative. So do you have the pattern? It would be good to use scraps for.

Yes, it is a great pattern for scraps! I've made several of these quilts. I made each of the blocks in this quilt with the same colors, but it would be just as pretty with all the blocks being different except for the main row, 'chain' running through it.
The website quilterscache has the pattern. Here's a link to the page.
