I just had to share these pics. This is Megan (9), working on her first quilt. She made a doll quilt for her friend who moved away last year.

She made the top herself, from some charm squares I had in my stash - and I quilted it for her, and added the binding. We'll need to practice the 1/4" seams, but for now, she's just having fun with it - and I think it's beautiful!

She looks mighty proud of that quilt top, and she should be. Give her a hug and a pat on the back for me. :-)

She did a wonderful job! How cool that she made it for a friend! :D :D :D

bjnicholson 09-15-2010 01:23 PM

She is so cute! She did a great job on placement and 1/4" seams aren't as important as spending quilting time with Mom. Her friend is going to love it.

Lynneander 09-15-2010 01:27 PM

Love her smile; she is so proud of herself ... as well she should! Great job!

blahel 09-15-2010 03:36 PM

LiveToQuilt 09-16-2010 04:42 AM

What a doll! She looks like she is just tickled pink with this project!

BTW, I hope you told her how addictive making doll quilts were.

Chatfield 09-16-2010 05:34 AM

What a neat deal! I hope that my granddaughters will one day want to do the same! (My daughters have absolutely no interest in sewing at al - so my only hope is my granddaughters!!)

nana2 09-16-2010 05:51 AM

Such a sweet innocent face filled with such pride (and rightly so)!!!!!!!! To help with 1/4" seams have you thought about cutting several layers of painters tape and getting it down several inches in front and back of the pressure foot to help keep those seams straight.??

Sheree from Chicago 09-16-2010 06:13 AM

What a lucky little girl to have a grandma to teach her this art! She's darling!

Betty Lee 09-16-2010 06:24 AM

Super good job, and you are
training another quilter to
our group. Think of all the
neat things she will make as
she grows up.
