My dear mother passed away last week (March 13, 2012), and she loved sewing, quilting, and other needle work. I wanted to post a couple of her quilts. She hand pieced and quilted them.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. She will live on in your heart for as long as you live, and through her beautiful works of art. May these beatuiful quilts bring comfort to you during this, your time of need.

What wonderful treasures and great memories........... Wow all hand pieced......... just think of the love that went into those quilts - not to mention the time.

The one of my mother sitting with the frame and quilting is when she was younger, and her grandson's were little. The one at the bottom is of her recently with my dad. In June they would have been married 60 years. Today dad gave me mom's serger that I know nothing about, but cherish it.

A wonderful tribute to your mother. Thank you for sharing her hand work.♥

Mom never took many pictures of her quilts at the right time. She sold many of them through the years, and about 5 years ago one to a state congressman, but those I don't have pictures of. I was always telling mom to let me get some pictures before they left. :)

My mom passed away almost 4/11/2011...still processing her not being here. Suggestion for you - the younger photo of her, make it into a wallhanging and place in your sewing area. I found a small square that my mom hand embroidered, I framed it and it is hanging in my sewing room.

bobbieking 03-23-2012 05:41 AM

Almost a year ago on 4/11/2011.
