I blame Eddie for getting me started on this one. Last month he posted that beautiful bargello Surf Song. I just had to order the book and try one myself. They're a lot of fun and I imagine I'll make more in the future. I have some regrets on my fabric choices but I know better now about what I'm looking for so the next one should flow a little nicer. Still having some trouble with wavy borders, and these borders needed mitered corners so there was another challenge, but in the end it wasn't a total disaster so I consider it a success. :)
I challenged myself to do more free motion than a meandering stipple so on the main part I did vines with leaves. The small border has a lace like pattern and the outside has a simple string of flowers. I'm proud that I made myself step out of my "safe zone" and try something different. Sorry about the flash on that picture. My pictures were coming out with a weird blue hue so I used the flash. I didn't remember until I was back inside that I had my white balance set on "inside". On to the next project! |
Beautiful quilt. I love your fabric choices. It is simply stunning.

Beautiful!!!! I love bargellos! Definitely on my to-do list, for MYSELF!!! I love this specific pattern - kind of a cross-over, or a link I guess. I think some of them are even called Links bargellos. Love the colors, and the quilting is great!!!

Absolutely stunning! Did the BSR work ok for you? or did you do this without? Either way I am drooling all over my keyboard! I soooo want to make one of these. Right now I have stalled on my first attempt which is a spring themed piece which I think I will use for a wall hanging....if I ever get it done. lol
Can't wait to see your next work of art! How you do this..and with little ones is beyond me....Keep up the beautiful work! |

Your bargello is beautiful...and you should be proud of yourself for stepping out of that comfort zone we all find ourselves in. I too have a bargello planned for DH....he is always drawn to them when I show him pics even though he wouldnt know what one was if I called it that. He just knows what he likes.
