Last weekend, I held an exhibition of my work in my local Village Hall to help raise money for our Restoration Fund and I wanted to share with you all. We set up on the Friday and it was quite a thrill to see all my work together in one place - it was very interesting as well to see my progression from where I started with very traditional patterns and techniques into where I am now which is much more contemporary and 'artsy' in style.

I was really nervous about it - what if no one comes? What if they DO come and are rude about my work? And so on.....

Anyway... ppl came - about 80 over the weekend and it was fantastic, I loved it! I did some demos of FMQ and on stacking and layering fabric for kaleidoscope and there was lots of interest - so much so that I'm going to start giving workshops come September. There was a mix of ppl - quilters and non-quilters and it was great to talk to ppl with different points of view on what I do - as art, as craft, etc... I like to talk so that was probably the best part!

Here's some pics... :-D

What a wonderful display and I am so pleased you have plenty of viewers as you deserve it. Did you manage to raise any money for such a wonderful cause?

Yes we did! We had a donations basket and ppl were very generous and we sold teas, coffees and cakes as well. I was lucky enough to sell a couple of smaller items so I gave a portion of that to the fund. Perhaps the best thing is the potential for workshops - that will benefit both me AND the Hall! :-D

My good ol' DH helped me set up and I had several of the villagers on tea and coffee duty. The stands I used were kindly lent by an artist who lives in village - her husband made them for her annual art show and they worked really well for my quilts - we just hung the battens on butcher's hooks over the netting. I am lucky to live in a great community where everyone 'mucks in' as we say!

Overseas ladies - come to a workshop - I'll throw in Bed and Breakfast!

Thank you - it's the pattern for the quilt on the table that I am selling - The Thirteenth Fandango here http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-132474-1.htm

The medallion star is a tradtional pattern that I English Paper pieced and I just kind of made it up size wise - drew a template on plastic and traced onto papers then chose my fabric layouts as I went along. I had a quick google and came up with this http://www.connectingthreads.com/pat...__D991437.html hope it helps. :-D I do know that there are ways to strip piece these by machine as well, if EPP isn't your thing. :-D
