I glued them down and then zig zagged around them, so not sure if they will hold up for a long time.

When I do machine applique, I use heat N bond lite to secure them and then do a satin stitch around them. They hold very well! I bet your zigzags will do fine.

Whenever I get a new machine, I am going to make sure I have a blanket stitch on it. My current one does not. I really love the look of that stitch.

are you for real. wow , i never would of thought to do it this way. of course it seems much easier this way. well you 've taught me some thing new. and it sounds like something i would like to try .thank you for sharing. .......tia sarah

did you glue every thing down

Scooter 06-14-2007 01:52 PM

The border leafs and flowers are all glued down, I used a glue stick. Like I said it was my first and I wasn't sure how to do it and trying to pin and hold the small leafs in place while i sewed around them would have taken a few of my fingers.

I'll try the Heat and Bond next time.

But someone mentions a satin stitch what is that?

Wow! would look great over my couch - matches the colors in it.....it's lovely.

i glued the leafs and the flowers in the border only and then zig zagged around them.

Someone mentioned Satin Stitch, I'm not sure what that is can someone explain?

Sorry I'm teaching myself all this stuff so I do ask alot of questions.
