My First time sewing, first Quilt, and first time quilting a top.

My First time sewing I had a great time making it, mom gave me a few pointers and turned me loose with it. It is not perfect but I learned a bunch on it. It is going on the couch as soon as I get the binding put on it.

I picked up a bunch of fat quarters yesterday I'll be starting a new one before long.

I forgot to add I shouldn't have waited until I was in my 40's to start Quilting.

Lorraine Simon 02-18-2012 02:57 AM

Very impressive first quilt.
It looks like a great quilter is blooming.
Thanks for sharing.
40 is just being a kid.....

CindyBee 02-18-2012 03:00 AM

That is so cute! I think you did a great job.

JenniePenny 02-18-2012 03:10 AM

A new quilter is born! I think it turned out great! Looks nice and cozy. It's exciting to know you are planning your next one.

QuiltingGrannie 02-18-2012 03:11 AM

Very nice work! Don't feel bad for being 40 before you got your start at quilting. I was 52!

orangeroom 02-18-2012 03:12 AM

Welcome future quilter! Isn't piecing and quilting interesting? It can be calming too. I'm glad that you discovered this art form. May you have many happy years quilting. I discovered quilting in my 30's, and have been doing it for about 10 years. Absolutely love it. Welcome!

Great job!! I have a Bernina 630 and it is the BEST machine out there for the money. I didn't get the BSR or embroidery unit with mine.

rootyr 02-18-2012 04:43 AM

A super job!!

beginnerquilter 02-18-2012 04:45 AM

This is just beautiful....wow...congratulations on your first Quilt...you did a beautiful job on this. I waited til I was in my 50's to start to learn to Quilt.

Tweety2911 02-18-2012 05:10 AM

You did a great job on all of your "firsts"! Lots of quilters started in their 60's so you are way ahead and have years and years of fun quilting awaiting you! You are off to a wonderful start!

quiltymom 02-18-2012 05:12 AM

Sew very nice!!!

GingerK 02-18-2012 05:22 AM

Your first quilt is lovely and you did a fantastic job. You're never too old to learn something new. Word of warning--quilting is adicting. Soon you will see potential quilt block patterns everywhere--the tiles in a public bathroom, the window in a church--everywhere!! Hmmm....do we have a new member of the Quilter's Anonymous Club?

jad1044 02-18-2012 05:27 AM

Me too! It's so fun, I think, why didn't I start sooner! We're at the same point - I'm 42 and have finished one quilt and am working on my second. (Top finished, not quilted.) I love the interesting fabrics and angles you used in your quilt top!

Highmtn 02-18-2012 05:39 AM

Hey... I started in my 50's....and I so wish I had started sooner. Prior to quilting I was very crafty, artsie... oil painted, acrylics... crocheted... clay... but.. I love making something that my family/friends can cuddle up in.

lillybeck 02-18-2012 05:41 AM

Wow you just jumped right in with this.

QuiltnNan 02-18-2012 06:07 AM
