i'd be afraid to ever introduce him to the joys of quilting--he might enjoy it, and i'd never see my stuff again...

Or, like me, you might get a brand new sewing machine so that he can have your old one!!!!!

John does beautiful work. I love the quilt he made for his sister. But I am sure your quilts are just as pretty as his, where are yours? Glad to see that he has something to occupy his time with retirement. Ask me how I know this. I was quilting before I retired, and after first retiring, I worked part time until this year. If I didn't have quilting to keep me sane, I would definitely go stark raving mad, with nothing but housework to do, and I hate doing that, however it really needs doing right now.
Tell John to keep up the great work!![/quote]

We both hate housework, so its just as well we both quilt!

I'm sure he's not really much better than you, I'll bet he just is different! More men should quilt, viv la difference!

My DH advises on colours but I do not always agree but I appreciate and need the input and he is so patient when I am in patchwork mode, which is most of the time. Well done sir, as someone else wrote, can we share your designs?

Originally we shared everything, and that didn't work so well, so now we have our own sewing machines and our own cutters, mainly because he has not much idea of how to clean away fluff!! Sharing the cutter was the worst - don't do it girls, always keep the cutters separate!! Incidentally, I don't always agree with his choice of colours either, but hey, its his choice, and usually works out ok. Some of my own choices have been a bit on the nose!!

Puts me to shame! Thanks for sharing.

I never cease to be amazed by the people on this board. His quilts are "beautiful".

How many men follow instructions? In this case it paid off

Don't be silly. He only ever followed the basics, then branched out in his own little grumpy way!
