that is beautiful

rootyr 01-07-2011 06:01 AM

Beautiful quilt!

sewsalot 01-07-2011 06:02 AM

Spectacular quilt! Maybe an applique or several taken from some of the motifs on the front would make covering the hole look like an intentional design element.

sandpat 01-07-2011 06:08 AM

Its absolutely gorgeous! Just applique over the hole and enjoy the quilt. Your group did a fabulous job!

skavanau 01-07-2011 06:56 AM

I wouldnt give it a second thought. the quilt to beautiful enjoy.

PamQuilts 01-07-2011 06:59 AM

The quilt is gorgeous! Try not to worry too much about the hole. It can be patched or covered.

IndyQuilter 01-07-2011 07:03 AM

The quilt is beautiful and the hole is on the back thank goodness. Please, don't stress over it.

grannypat7925 01-07-2011 08:16 AM

Very nice and surely something can be figured out for the hole in the back. The label mentioned sounds like a good idea to me.

mswings 01-07-2011 08:26 AM

Beautiful quilt.

tutty 01-07-2011 08:27 AM

gorgeous

kwhite 01-07-2011 08:31 AM

I love the quilt and have not read all of the replies so forgive a duplicate idea, but I think it is a good place for an artfully placed random block made of the scraps from your center.

nena 01-07-2011 09:17 AM

Oh my goodness, That is one beautiful quilt!!!!

buddy'smom 01-07-2011 09:19 AM

It's absolutely beautiful.

wisconsin 01-07-2011 09:36 AM

Things are always fixable. Put an applique over it, or a strip of blocks from the front. good luck.

Cyn 01-07-2011 09:37 AM

Stunning quilt!

JANW 01-07-2011 09:51 AM

Your cup is really half full, so don't waste any time on this . There are many solutions and a lot depends on the location and size of the hole. Since you so brilliantly pieced and quilted this lovely quilt I'm sure your artistry will make it look planned with a label. block or whatever.
GREAT JOB LOVE IT

cyniree 01-07-2011 09:56 AM

very pretty

morelcabin 01-07-2011 09:58 AM

It's such a lovely piece of art that no one will do much careful examination of the back. It's the front that catches the eye.

That is where my thinking was going also. Mend the area, then quilt it, and it should scarcely be noticeable. Good luck, it's a beauty!

AnnaK 01-07-2011 10:33 AM

This is a beautiful quilt. Your Round Robin ladies were really good at bringing out the character of this quilt. The colors just sparkle. I like the idea of puting a label on the hole in the back. No one but you will ever know.

I agree and think that's a great idea!

malega 01-07-2011 11:05 AM

Sorry about the hole the quilt is so beautiful!!!!!!!!

littleone 01-07-2011 11:08 AM

Your quilt is beautiful. Creativity will fix the hole.

Zephyr 01-07-2011 12:04 PM

I patch with a heart.

lakelily 01-07-2011 12:07 PM

the quilt is so pretty, but didn't you notice the hole when you ironed it?

UglyCook 01-07-2011 12:16 PM

It's gorgeous!!

starshine 01-07-2011 12:32 PM

It is so pretty.

Lilrain 01-07-2011 12:44 PM

it is a very nice quilt. Sorry about the hole. With that unbelievable quilting you are right, continue on and patch it when done. Do you quilt for others?

pamsmpk 01-07-2011 01:53 PM

Absolutely beautiful!

Maurene 01-07-2011 02:02 PM

It's stunning! Too bad about the hole, but you can do something creative with it - put an obvious patch on the hole, then embroider something around it.

A friend, a former teacher, who is a quilter, taught several forms of quilting and smocking too, her work is unbelievable, took an order from a mum asking her to make a quilt for her new baby girl using some of the big sisters old clothes - she had it batted up and was ready to roll when she noticed a 1/2" hole in one of the pink jeans patches. So! she gave it an obvious patch and embroidered "My big sister's jeans were just too cute to leave out of my quilt!"

I was doing a - I call it quiltlet - with a pretty duvet cover and muslin back and I CUT A 3" SLICE THRU ALL 3 LAYERS!! Yikes! I did double sided blanket stitching thru the 3 layers, then decided on an Amish explanation + embroidered "Only God is Perfect!" around it - who could argue with that!!

The Old Order Amish Quilters often turned one block in a different direction deliberately to show they knew only God is perfect; I love their example, they are an inspiration and a great help when errors strike!

So take heart with your backing hole and it will become an even greater treasure - these bits of our humanity jog creativity more than we think they will!

Aunt Patti 01-07-2011 02:17 PM

Kathy it is just beautiful are U able to mend it before so it wont been noticable the quilt is so very pretty,at least it is on the back

hikingquilter 01-07-2011 02:57 PM

It's a beautiful quilt. Maybe you could make a block that matches one on the top and applique it over the hole, or put your quilt label over it.

Peggyinno 01-07-2011 03:33 PM

WoW, amazing quilt. Your group is very talented! So sorry to hear about the hole. You didn't say how big, but I would make a block, something to represent the front, and stitch it down over the hole, maybe at an angle. If it looks odd, then make another small block and stitch that down also. Now you know, once you start, you may want to make more, but keep it in odd numbers
Good luck. I am anxious to see what everyone else has come up with ;)

reach for the stars 2 01-07-2011 03:37 PM

Beautiful, put a few circles or what ever on the back (applique by hand carefully) and it will look like it is suppose to be like that

RedGarnet222 01-07-2011 03:38 PM

OMG ... You are kidding! Bless your heart. Can you put your label there to hide and reinforce it?
That is such nice work on both the quilting and the rounds.

maryb119 01-07-2011 03:40 PM

Could that be the place you stitch on the label? I did that once when I found a flaw in the backing fabric.

this is a great idea - you are acknowledging everyone - yet its still yours

M.I.Late 01-07-2011 04:05 PM

Sounds like a great place to affix an applique...

kwiltkrazy 01-07-2011 04:13 PM
