Others have mentioned pull out shelving behind your closet doors, but my suggestion is not shelving but deep drawers. A friend had drawers built into an attic space and from the room side it looked just like a chest of drawers. I had my hubby do that in my kitchen closet, I could only have one drawer plus shelves( made a pantry), but that one drawer sure holds a lot! It's about 10 inches tall by 36deep and wide. He bought really heavy metal drawer slides. You can only go "up" so high or you won"T be able to get in the drawer when you pull it out, but now you can even buy tracks for cabinets that let you have pullout/drop down space.

i don't know if this has been suggested but along the lines of a room divider what about getting a cubical wall. they are almost always covered in a fabric/carpet that would hold the blocks. and you could always pin them. I think that maybe getting those old medical records filing cabinets to store your fabric on would be nice. you could paint them or cover them in fabric if you wanted too. I would "hang" your quilts on the sloped ceiling when they are done or waiting for binding to be put on for finished. that way you will remember which ones are almost done and you don't have to fold them up.
you are really lucky to have such a large work space to sewing. I would love to have one that large. well i would love to have one period. i use a corner of my living room to store my stuff so the kids don't get into it and then when all are asleep expand out into the living room. good luck and show us pics when you are done.

That was me for years. Thirteen of us in a mobile home. Good memories though and many of my quilts were made there.

I am taking in all the ideas. I am not sure how to utilize all the ceiling ideas but I will run them by DH. He is the one implementing a lot of that stuff. Some of the ping pong table/room devider ideas I can visualize. And the storage space definitely would benefit from some kind of pull out shelves drawers. It is a work in progress. Thank you for all the ideas. Very helpful.

Such a great space. I would probably be in alot of trouble with that room. With the kitchen in there I would never have to leave that room!!!! Is there a lock on the door!!!!!!!!!!!!
