i"m guilty here too.

jitkaau 12-30-2010 05:48 AM

If I let anyone in, the 'housework police' soon know about it in every neighbourhood. My place looks pretty similar at times.

eimay 12-30-2010 05:59 AM

It's good to know I'm not the only one.

sandpat 12-30-2010 06:07 AM

too funny....mine looks somewhat similar :D

it is all good though! i will clean it up AGAIN and mess it up AGAIN!
we are all in this together.. :XD:

Your quote reminds me of Red Green. And my sewing room looks like I've just done one of his projects with duck tape!! (LOL)

Jingle 12-30-2010 06:20 AM

You need to get busy to achieve your goal. I share my sewing room with four cats and I have to pick up and put away when I get done sewing for the day. I don't want them laying all over my stuff. I cleaned and straightened my fabric cabinet before I started my latest quilt.

raptureready 12-30-2010 06:20 AM

I call it "Speed Cleaning". Usually reserved for last minute guests, lack of time, and holidays.

grammy17 12-30-2010 06:23 AM

Too funny. My husband just came and peeked at me in my mess. I asked him if he thinks I'm drowning. He replied, "That's ok, you are having fun"

My sewing room is only about 12 feet by 14 feet and has a 60 x 60" table in the middle of it. But one day, I am going to have myself a sewing room the size of Taco Bell with so many shelves that Joann's fabric will be kind enough to donate all their fabrics and quilting tools to me because they will feel sorry for me seeing all those EMPTY shelves. LOL. Well, no one never said I couldn't dream!!!!

My husband does that too. But I use the dining room table to cut so...I have to move over for dinner--occasionally.

LindaZ 12-30-2010 07:18 AM

Are you sure you didn't take pictures of my room. Company went back to michigan so now I can start clean up.

grannypat7925 12-30-2010 07:25 AM

Connie in CO 12-30-2010 07:31 AM

Boy welcome to the group.I'm cleaning very slowly, but cleaning.

vivoaks 12-30-2010 07:46 AM

Consider yourself blessed!! My sewing room looks worse than that every day of the year!! :-) (One of these days, I really do need to start throwing stuff out - the junk, not the fabric!!)

OKLAHOMA PEACH 12-30-2010 07:47 AM

 Looks just like mine!

jad1044 12-30-2010 08:08 AM

"That is just what I finished cleaning up in my room! Company is wonderful but it is almost moreso when they are gone! sorry to say - especially when you have no place to go with the "extras".

oldmountaincrafts 12-30-2010 09:05 AM

Mine looks the same way, I just won't have time until Monday to clean mine up. Going out of town tomorrow to celebrate Christmas with my family this weekend and home late Sunday night. At least my New Year's holiday is Monday!!

Chasing Hawk 12-30-2010 09:11 AM

Looks like you better get busy.

ggoens 12-30-2010 09:13 AM

LOL! Looks like mine only much better! :) Bet you know how to get to anything you need though!

colwoods 12-30-2010 12:10 PM

Because of my husband's health issues, I sew in the dining room so that I can be near him even though I do have a sewing room that only has a path from the door to the ironing board. LOL Of course, there is stuff in the dining room as a result. Last week my children had a surprise birthday party for me and cleaned the dining room while I was out Christmas shopping. Now it is piled deeper with a smaller path! They said they would help me get it all straightend out before they left. I declined the offer because they would have thrown out what they thought wasn't necessary. It'll take me longer but I will know where everthing is. BTW, the party was a total surprise and fun.

MsSewer 12-30-2010 12:10 PM

So was mine, wrapping paper, ribbons, tags, trash. One of my adult sons used my fabric scissors to cut wrapping paper.

AtHomeSewing 12-30-2010 12:12 PM

Had to laugh...mine becomes everyone's favorite place to wrap gifts, and it is a mess too. Won't it feel great getting them re-organized!

luvTooQuilt 12-30-2010 12:14 PM

Looks like most of us are guilty as charged..I am sooo not ready to clean up my mess yet, but im dying to do some quilting!!!! Oh the agony!!!!

sltiffee 12-30-2010 02:12 PM

My DH uses my sewing room as a dumpimg ground. Our house is small, only two small bedrooms, when he strighten up the house he thinks what ever should go in the spair bedroom because its not being used. NOT!! Its my sewing room!!!
I don't put stuff in his work shop. STAY OUY OF MY SEWING ROOM>

patimint 12-30-2010 03:30 PM

Good luck getting it done by the 3rd. It took me 3 weeks to clean, sort and rearrange my sewing area, it is so nice I don't want to mess it up by starting a project. haha

quiltaroni 12-30-2010 03:43 PM

I had a plan that no Christmas fabric would be put away on the high shelf until all my projects were finished. Since I can hear my Mothers voice telling me to have a clean house for the New Year I know dont stand a chance.I had best make yet another resolution for next year

tryitall 12-30-2010 03:55 PM

Yep! Know the feeling!!!

mrs_uncle_fuzzy 12-30-2010 03:59 PM

Yours looks a lot better than mine at the moment!

My room looks worse, most of the time, don't have the excuses that some have said. I've made the mess and I'm the one to fix it. Sometimes I walk in, look around and then walk out with a project in hand and head to the living room. Trouble is, then that room starts looking congested. My DH is up for canonization for putting up with the clutter and not saying a word!! Any level surface gets covered in layers. I want to be neat, but it's hard!! It's on my list of to do's in the New Year. Not buying fabric and completing UFO's should help alot!!

Laurel 12-30-2010 04:15 PM

Gee that looks like mine.

LivelyLady 12-30-2010 04:19 PM

I'm guilty too...I started to dig into the mess but then realized the quiltingboard was calling me :)

i need this done by the 3rd of january..!

Watterside, are you sure your company is gone ? They might be in there somewhere :) seriously though, I hope you get it done by the 3rd. It looks like a great sewing space, with nice storage and plenty of room to be creative.

DonnaB 12-30-2010 04:57 PM

This can be one of our new resolutions, to try and keep our studio's clean and organized.

Quilter2B 12-30-2010 05:04 PM

Aw, it doesn't look all that bad (if you only look at the first pic); just think of how much fun you are going to have rediscovering everything that is piled in there. Personally, I can't work like that and mine doesn't get that messy when I'm in the middle of a project. I'm finding the older I get, the neater I try to be - don't want to take that much time to get "reorganized". Maybe its a left over from having a house full of kids and having to clean the kitchen just to cook dinner

TX GMimi 12-30-2010 05:11 PM

There's an old saying: birds of a feather flock together! Now is there a room big enough to hold ALL of us? :) I think having a room that's comfortable is what's important! Besides if you come to see me, you have to take my house as it is and that includes the sewing room!!

QuiltingHiker 12-30-2010 05:23 PM

Lots to do there. Just think how nice it will be once you clean and organize it. Then the creative juices will begin to flow.

ORSunshineQuilter 12-30-2010 05:45 PM

Shoot, Kim, mine looks worse than that when I am sewing! LOL.
It looks fairly clean to me!

waquilter 12-30-2010 06:08 PM

That could be my room except my chair is black (I think - can't always see it). LOL

stitchofclass2 12-30-2010 06:32 PM

Looks like mine when it's clean. LOL

butterflies5518 12-30-2010 07:34 PM

oh my! I thought I was alone in this - mine is a disaster with new creativity brimming - but don't want to step foot in there to clean up to start new - well maybe this weekend.....
