raptureready 12-29-2010 05:05 AM

LOL --- I do the same thing and every time as I'm cleaning it up I promise myself to never do it again!

Scrapquilt 12-29-2010 05:06 AM

The same thing happen in my sewing room. But I am not taking all the blame, my hubby has been known to ship a few things in there when things get crazy. He knows I will clean it up.

granky 12-29-2010 05:11 AM

Yeah! I can relate to that! Glad I'm not the only one...

pamesue 12-29-2010 05:12 AM

wow..I did that too!

watterstide 12-29-2010 05:15 AM

see, now everyone knows we are all guilty! it is ok..it will get cleaned up..i started already this morning.

heading out for a quilting/sewing sewing day in a bit.

caspoohbear 12-29-2010 05:24 AM

oh, dear, I can't even get far enough into my room to take a pic of how bad it is... between remodeling this fall and Christmas...
Just got a 24/7 chair, and put it together down there, but now I have to figure out how to get it over the bikes and treadmill to get it to my sewing side of the room!

Airwick156 12-29-2010 05:25 AM

HeHe that is what happens at my house too. But my husband has a habit of putting things ON TOP OF MY TABLE that i cut, and sew on. Why he cant put stuff in a box or on the shelves beats me. So then when I am in the mood to sew, I CAN'T. because its piled high with stuff. But he knows I will deal with it because I am addicted to sewing. LOL. My sewing room is only about 12 feet by 14 feet and has a 60 x 60" table in the middle of it. But one day, I am going to have myself a sewing room the size of Taco Bell with so many shelves that Joann's fabric will be kind enough to donate all their fabrics and quilting tools to me because they will feel sorry for me seeing all those EMPTY shelves. LOL. Well, no one never said I couldn't dream!!!!

Brenda 12-29-2010 05:36 AM

You know I thought I was the only one. If I didn't
love my addiction so much , my messes would depress
me. Each time I begin a new project, or my sewing
friend comes to visit, I get busy and clean it all up.

THEN I MESS IT UP ALL OVER AGAIN.

Brenda

Jo M 12-29-2010 05:41 AM

I'm guilty here too.

Sharon M 12-29-2010 05:43 AM

Thank you soooo much for being brave enough to take a picture  Now the rest of us know it isn't just us. I thought I was the only one. It feels great knowing there are others. I swear each time this happens I am not going to let it happen again. But alas it happens again and again. Thanks for sharing.

watterstide 12-29-2010 06:09 AM

nothing to do with being brave! i am smart enough to know there are others out there like me! just not ashamed of it, it is part of my life! mess and clean up, mess and clean up! lol!

I tend to put things on a table too..stacked on my sewing table! yikees!
it is all good though! i will clean it up AGAIN and mess it up AGAIN!
we are all in this together.. :XD:

kateyb 12-29-2010 06:15 AM

I try to keep mine orderly but when in the throes of creativity I cause chaos. I cleaned up and now I am creating again.

sueisallaboutquilts 12-29-2010 06:20 AM

I'm still trying to get around my room w/o jumping from spot to spot! lol

Shari1967 12-29-2010 06:22 AM

I just cleaned mine up this past weekend. I spent 6 hours tossing stuff, putting stuff where it belonged, finding a "home" for other stuff....it's now clean and ready to go for New Years day.... I cannot wait. It feels so good to have it cleaned up and ready for the new year. I'm sure it won't take me long to get it messy again though ;)

quiltinghere 12-29-2010 06:32 AM

It the midst of creativeness you HAVE to have a little chaos. If you spent time cleaning up, that creative flow would stop.

You are one brave brave person to post your before pictures. I applaud you! Can't wait to see the after.

One thing I did when cleaning up my 'area' the last time was to REMOVE EVERYTHING THAT WASN'T SEWING RELATED. Like the off season clothes, dress clothes and other people's belongings. It really helped ME see that MY area wasn't as messy as I thought it was...I could blame it on others! :)

Good luck - check in here daily please

2 Doods 12-29-2010 07:50 AM

Looks just like my room! Santa sure made a mess and now I need to clean it up. Good project for today!

nativetexan 12-29-2010 07:53 AM

I'm sorry but i didn't give you permission to take pics of my sewing room. mine is a mess just like that!!! i'm trying to clean it up bit by bit though. it's gotten the best of me.

granma1 12-29-2010 08:22 AM

I am so glad that I am not the only one whose sewing room is a mess.My DH decided to get a treadle but one wasn't enough. Now ,we have 4 ,so I had to make room for them in my teeny tiny sewing room. So now I have to figure out where to put the rest of the furniture. All I wanted was a FW for Christmas.

LOL, it's your dream and you can make it as big as you want!!! :D

Toto's Mom 12-29-2010 08:32 AM

My creativity includes painting, and knitting, embroidery, crochet, and cross stitch, on top of quilting. So, I just cross it off as all being part of the creativity process.
Martha Stewart doesn't live here. If I had her space, I could probably be neater, and maybe even more creative. I do what I can with what space I have to work in. Kitchen and bathrooms are clean. If someone comes to inspect the house...........they better go somewhere else. If they come to visit......they already know I am creative, and they can deal with it.

QuiltnCowgirl 12-29-2010 08:34 AM

LOL - why didn't you tell me you were taking pictures of my sewing room? :D I dumped more in this morning, and if that isn't bad...I'm using a vacation day on Monday the 3rd totally for the purpose of having a day all to myself to clean it up! How sad is that?

sueisallaboutquilts 12-29-2010 09:02 AM

Not so sad!! You're going to be so happy when it's finished!! :D:D

eaglebeak1960 12-29-2010 09:05 AM

yep my DW dumps stuff on my tables too. Sigh I end up spending time I should be sewing cleaning

J.M. 12-29-2010 09:14 AM

LOL, my living room looks like your sewing room. (I'm using the living room as a sewing room right now because my sewing room was already a disaster area). All I can say is good luck! (I'm not starting my cleaning until after New Year).

barefoot quilter 12-29-2010 12:29 PM

looks like mine and may i ask in your first pic where did you get your sewing table just asking cause i like it

FranW 12-29-2010 01:07 PM

Oh my goodness it looks so much like mine! No work this week so I was finally going to tackle it and been down with the flu! UGHHHH!!!! But I will get it back to order (right after I take down the Christmas decorations and clean the guest room and bathroom and try to catch up on the laundry and...). LOL! Thanks for letting us know that we are truly not alone in our chaos!

Joan 12-29-2010 01:12 PM

frankly, it looks like a very creative place to be!

(and mine looks just like it........)

i got it from the sewing center that is in our Joanns, which is NOT a part of Joanns.

it was the floor model.
it is the "Koala-Outback junior model" husband got it for me for Christmas about 4 years ago. i love it, it is on wheels, and the back,or is it the front?! part opens up real big.

Stitchnripper 12-29-2010 01:24 PM

Looks very familiar -:))

pigstail 12-30-2010 03:11 AM

I also plead guilty, especially when I'm trying to find a certain fabric (I do a lot of applique).

thseabreze 12-30-2010 03:27 AM

LOL...looks like mine this morning. I have no idea how, or why I make such a mess. It's easy to put things back, that you are not using, right?...

donac 12-30-2010 03:47 AM

I have been cleaning since MOnday. I finally found my table. My table is usually used as a dumping ground before the holidays and it was piled pretty high. I have two bags of garbage and another bag of paper recycle. That is just the start.

Good luck everyone.

teacherbailey 12-30-2010 04:19 AM

The love of my life likes to do this too....probably has something to do with the fact that the door is always closed and therefore the mess is out of sight! I actually have to wade through all the stuff she tossed in there right now to get in the door....but my big chore for today is to straighten it all out and get ready for my next quilt! Glad to know I'm not alone in all of this!

sewTinker 12-30-2010 04:23 AM

the Fun part will be re-visiting all your fabric & goodies and making those kinds of plans that only quilters make.

NUTMEG10 12-30-2010 04:50 AM

I don't understand how someone can trash such a lovely work area. I am a very orderly person and this would drive me crazy. You should see where I sew. My diningroom table with a cabinet behind me and hope chest with containers in color co-ordinated. I would give anything to have such a lovely area. I don't want to be critical just more appreciative of the space.

girlsfour 12-30-2010 04:52 AM

My sewing room is the dining room off the kitchen. What an easy place to toss stuff I want out of the way. My goal as well is to get it picked up.

How about some before and after pictures??

i already posted some before.! i have been working on it for over an hour now!

Bessie 12-30-2010 04:59 AM

My sewing room was also a dumping ground during the holidays and now that I have cleaned house for the past three days, it is a sewing room again. What a nice feeling this morning to walk in and it is tidy again and ready to begin the new projects in 2011. My only consolation is that my sewing room is at the back of our home and I just close the door and no one but me knows what a mess is behind that door.

kuntryquilter 12-30-2010 05:26 AM

Ha, looks like my sewing room.
