Start with a big trash bag and be brave. Get rid of trash first so it will make the rest easier. I just had to do this with the room that is now our den. It feels so good when it is done.

Dee 12-30-2010 08:59 PM

We are all the same in that repect. Mess then clean up.

sewwhat85 12-30-2010 09:00 PM

fidgety 12-31-2010 12:57 AM

yeah I did the same thing but I cleaned mine up already lol

mrsddh97 12-31-2010 07:41 AM

I can relate. I am half way done with cleaning my space. I bought wrapping paper organizer from Target and I have picked mostly everything up off the floor and the organizing of the room has begun.

Debra Mc 12-31-2010 12:23 PM

You are as messy as I am.

wvdek 12-31-2010 12:43 PM

Know that one. I just found part of my cutting table yesterday. Have to work my DD's job tonight (she has a 'bug' of some sort)or I would stay home and clean the rest and sew. Oh well.
Hey, you can do it by the third. Bestter enlist some help though! :)

Rock Lady 12-31-2010 12:48 PM

If you think yours is bad you should see mine. I do painting, making cards, and scrapbooking, all of which is piled up in there.

Marilynsue 12-31-2010 12:50 PM

We MUST be related!

Debra Mc 12-31-2010 01:14 PM

Looks like mine!!!

brendadawg 12-31-2010 06:03 PM

Oh, goodness...I can relate. I did the same thing in my sewing room. I figure it will take me a week just to get it so I can work on something.

chamby 12-31-2010 06:05 PM

Wow, I feel your pain. Same thing happened to my sewing room during Christmas. My sewing room was the first room I cleaned up. I cleaned my sewing room as soon as the last gift was wraped and under the tree.

cherylmae 12-31-2010 06:09 PM

Ha ha ha, you just tickled me as that is my sewing room too! Do we ever get it right? I just opened another box of material I have had stashed of curtain, upholstery material and am thinking now, where am I suppose to put that? So it went right back in the box, except a few pieces for tablecloths. Another project?

TX GMimi 12-31-2010 07:06 PM

I also need to clean the sewing room - just to see what I have waiting to be finished. I figured if it hadn't gotten done before Christmas, no one would miss it because they didn't know it was coming! :) So, where did I start to clean today? The linen closet in the bathroom! Yep, you read that right. So, I'm making baby steps, but not headed in the right direction!! Oh well, there's always tomorrow!!

Happy New Year to everyone!

quiltgrammyt2 12-31-2010 07:46 PM

LOL!! Looks like mine except I have some furniture I had to put in there to have room for the Christmas tree.
Went in today to find the UFO I want to work on tomorrow and thinking maybe I'll have to work on one that is closer to the door,(moved my sewing machine and cabinet to LR for the winter). :P
Hope all of us can get them clean before Easter when more company will come!!!!

watterstide 01-01-2011 03:50 AM

it is all good though! i will clean it up AGAIN and mess it up AGAIN!
we are all in this together.. :XD:

Brave or not, you made my day. Every time we have company coming, my room is the dumping ground and I have friends who want to see my projects or have me show them how to do something on the computer. DH says, "Just lock the door." Well, next time I'm going to -- before we start tidying up the rest of the house.

ROFL- At least you can jump and find an empty spot. I am working on mine starting monday. I decided to put it all in the hallway (thank God it is 75 ft long and 6ft wide) And putting it up as I take it in the room. I am putting fabric on the bolts I bought and the comic book boards for the smaller pieces. My goal is not to have to dig for a fabric. LOL. So glad she shared these pictures. LOL. Not me.

kriscraft99 01-01-2011 10:44 AM

we had a 4th of July gathering at my house this past year.. I hid so much stuff in my sewing room since I knew I wouldn't be using it - being that it was in the basement (which is a walkout) - several people wanted to go in there to change clothes before going to the lake. I was so embarrassed! They literally had to step over piles and stacks

watterstide 01-01-2011 11:44 AM

i am getting alot done! will post photos soon,

i gathered up some containers to use to sort..

Nap Time! 8-)

skydiver70 01-01-2011 11:50 AM

Are you sure you didn't slip into my room and take that photo? No, I think mine is probably worse. Just put up a sign, "This room was clean yesterday, sorry you missed it!"

Debra Mc 01-01-2011 02:14 PM

Office Depot has some really neat clear boxes on sale for 7.50. Today last day. Regular 12.50. They are called everything boxes. Come in a lot of multi sizes. This one I got is about 17x 20 ?. Wanted it to put current projects in & one to hold embroidery CD's in. They are perfect. If you have a store near you & the time, they are super.

nwm50 01-01-2011 02:23 PM

Mine was used worse than this!! LOL,,,better get to cracking on that cleanup.....wish i could do in it in couple days! I bet you'd find something there supposed to be a gift! I did!

DH swore he was not putting anything in my sewing room so I put down one of those big mouse catcher sticky pads a couple steps inside the door. Guess who's shoe it turned up on. I caught a Rat. LOL Yes he stacks things up so "he has helped straighten" but I am the one that really gets to put it away. I think I will tackle mine tomorrow. Right now there is a homemade apple pie ready to come out of the oven and it is calling my name.....

quiltinghere 01-01-2011 03:00 PM

YEP - that's looking GOOD!!!

Atta Girl!!!

cherrybsixty 01-01-2011 03:11 PM

Kim, you did a geat job of organizing your space, Congrate to you.

TX GMimi 01-01-2011 04:51 PM

Kim,
You are an inspiration to us all! :) :) And you worked so quickly! Sometimes I feel like a pilot - you "pile it" here and you "pile it" there! One of these days my room will be straightened up.... dreamer!

I got mine done day after Christmas. Cleaned my sewing machines new years eve day. I need to keep it clean but I don't. When I sew sometimes I have things in the way. My husband thinks I need to clean it before I start sewing. What a laugh. I also cleaned my iron and made a new ironingboard cover. So I'm ready to sew. But my time is a gone. Thats why I don't clean very much.
