That looks so nice and neat. I want show mine that I build shelves for. It's hid behind a drapery panel for a door and no one can see them but me. You did a real neat job.
I redid mine last month from the tute, and am happy with the results...you however must have put in hours of work to make all of that fabric look so good :)
beautiful. I've organized mine too and just love how easy it is to find what I want. I've not bought any fabric since doing it!! I can save up now for a quilting retreat
sometimes I just walk out to the studio to look at it. thanks Alaskasunshine for posting this tutorial..
can you come to my house and do my shelves like that...Great job...
Ok ladies, I have a question about everyone's stash. When I'm out at a fabric store, and I see something I just love but have no project in mind for, I'll just get a yard or 2. We don't have a lot of money for me to be buying a ton of excess fabrics with. So, do some of you buy entire bolts? Is a yard or 2 here and there enough to count as a "stash"? I have hundreds of different fabrics that are just a yard or 2 of each. I'm new, so I don't know if this is what other people's stash looks like, or if I should be buying more when I snag a beauty.
I buy a yard or two also. Sometimes three. If its for a backing then i buy whats on the bolt or six yards. five four... whatever. If its for a project then i get what the pattern calls for.
Ok, good. I was looking at the picture of the beautiful fabric room on this thread and thought, "I don't have entire bolts like that!" And then I worried that somehow I wasn't collecting correctly. I know each person is unique and there are no rules, but I'd hate to acquire all of this fabric and realize I haven't been collecting enough, you know?
Beautiful...
Looks GREAT A lot of work... I am in the process of doing this to my sewing room, but a lot of time and work. I just hope my sewing room looks 1/2 as great as yours. |
they are not full bolts of fabric. Only most of them have five or six yards. one has nine but it is for a king size backing that I am doing BOM almost free quilt at the LQS
looks great! I've done all my fabric like this in recent months but have had to store it into large plastic storage boxes for a while as we are planning to move at the end of the year - then it will be displayed on bookshelves in my new studio! Can't wait!
Love the idea..good job.
Looks awesome. I love it.
Very nice! Jealous here too! Maybe some day I will get organized!
Very nice, I wish I had a place in my sewing room to do that

Do you know if this coroplastic is acid free? I want to organize my fabric as well, but I still don't know what to use. Are you happy with the coroplastic? Your organization is wonderful!

No I don't know if it is or not. However on the tutorial page Alaskasunshine might know if it is or not. (acid free) You could always ask the manufacturer if it is. I am happy with the coroplastic. Its thinner than the foam board I had started using. Some of the foam board is acid free.

The nice thing about seeing pictures of this size stash is great!! Makes me realize that I am not so bad!! I thought I had quite a bit but you collection puts mine to shame. BUT, the nice thing about my stash is that about 75% of it has been donated for making prayer quilts at our church. Since I got involved in making them, I've done very little quilting for myself. So now I get to quilt without much expense to me... that's the best of both worlds.
that is great.
When is your shop opening? Just kidding I am completelygreen with envy.
You did good. You have a wonderful stash. I would just sit and look at it all the time.
Very nice.
I am so envious. I keep trying to get there, but haven't made it yet.
Lookin good, like a fabric store!
Wow what a room like the pic of your dog
Oh my! That is fantastic!
your room is to die for, great job.
That could be used on a postcard. It certainly is inspiring. Mine does not look like that!!!
I am so jealous!! Wish I could get that organized. don't think that will ever happen
love your organization good job blessing georgia
What is the name of your quilt shop? HA! You are very organized.
YOur fabric center is AWESOME. Now I do have a question. I think of things in a closet that do not get worn after a lot time, layers of dust seem to attack here and there. Then if you leave items laying where sun will land on them or just room sunlight, they can become faded. How do youu stop this from happening to your wall of fabric? You may use it up fast? lol.... if you do for sure you sew a whole lot more than me. ( most probably do) just questions. Some of you gals have a store in your home )smile) enjoy, it looks great.
Wow! Looking good!
