A few months back when this quilt pattern was the topic of discussion on this board, I decided I wanted to make one. I figured it would be a long term project because I wanted a BIG one. Well, it was not quite so long term. It was a bit tedious, but in a good way (if that makes sense). I used most of my stash of blue jean squares (cut them into circles). I added W&N and W&W batting (from leftovers)in each square as I wanted it to be warm. Spent a lot of time with my rotary cutter and square ruler.
Making this was fun. It is one of those projects that you can do in spurts. I made it in sections of 4 rows each. Then put on one section at a time keeping the new section in my machine throat to reduce bulk there. Finally finished this afternoon and am proud of it. Thanks for looking. I love getting inspirations from this board. Priscilla bluejean/Cath windows |

Never thought of using jean material?? |
Very nice, that would look so good in my camper!! Nice job.:)

It's a terrific quilt! I love working with denim, too. You did a great job.

oh Priscilla, this is absolutely gorgeous!!!!
from that far away, you really can't see the colors in the fabrics. There really are several different ones. :)
Thats really cool! This is on my bucket list. =)
Nice job....I Love how it came out!!
Wow! Looks great!!!
That is amazing. I've tried one of these blocks, and I probably won't do it again. It is absolutely amazing that you were able to do it with denim.
That must be one heavy quilt. |
Awesome
That's a WOW!
I have one of those quilts planned - my mom gave me my dad's jeans (he passed away in July) so we are making a quilt out of them. First I have to finish the quilt from his memorial - everyone signed a square. -
I love your jean quilt and its an inspiration to me. |
That is awesome!!! Great job. Thanks for sharing.
it looks great! :-)

Fantastic quilt. You did a wonderful job on it.
I do believe I like the bluejeans better than the traditional way. Beautiful quilt!
I really like the look of that one! I bet it is nice and heavy, too!
Fantastic! Every time I see a Cathedral Windows quilt, I place it at the top of my to do list...then I become very intimidated and it goes to the bottom of the list again. Thank you for sharing and inspiring.
WOW, so much work. I love that pattern, but too scared to try.
Love and it and great use of old jeans.
Love it!!!! I'm not that brave to try that yet, but I have it on my "to do" list....
Welcome from down the road from you (I'm in Ville Platte) about 1 1/2 hours from you!!! I have family in Denhim Springs!!!! |
You should be proud of it, it's great.

Looks great. What did you use for backing? What size are the blocks?

Great job and great quilt!
FABULOUS!!!!!! You should be very proud for that beautiful quilt!
Very nice. I've been wanting to make one, too, but have been discouraged about everyone's comments that the denim quilts are almost too heavy to handle.
I am collecting blue jeans now for my own CW. Am interested in what size circles you used. Did you do a straight stitch when sewing down the circle flaps and leave the edges fray? or zigzag for a more finished look? Did the addition of batting make it too heavy? I would love to see a close up pic!
I'm I pressed.
Terrific!!! Did you do the raw edge method or stitch around the circle then turn it right side out? Looks Great!
Wow, that was my first thought when I saw it.
I have always wanted to make a Cathedral Window quilt and never thought of making a jean one. I just finished a jean and flannel rag quilt.
