My version of River Trees.

I was inspired by fellow boardmember K.P.'s posting http://www.quiltingboard.com/picture...t-t200081.html.

I made this for my DS & DIL. Almost all of it is from my scrap stash...even used up the last of my WOW scrap bag. I did purchase the border yardage. I used the "fast 45" method for making the flying geese. The points were always just right. This is one pattern I'll make again in different color combos. The pattern was designed by Jan Magee and is available free at http://www.quiltviews.com/free-river...n-by-jan-magee.

In order to have this completed in time for our scheduled visit to DS & DIL (several states away from us), I took the plunge and had it LAQ'd through my local quilt shop. A first for me, since I'm a hand quilter. It turned out really nice with scattered leaves pattern, so I'll certainly go that route again. Unfortunately, I was so excited about the trip that I forgot to take pictures of the completed quilt after I finished binding it. Duh! Oh well, here's the top. Hope you like it. Thanks, again to K.P. for the inspiration.

Thanks! The fast 45 flying geese is included with the Jan Magee pattern link I listed: http://www.quiltviews.com/free-river...n-by-jan-magee. That's the only way I'll ever make them from now on. There is a little waste, but not much. I threw all of the tiny leftover HST's in a jar. They're pretty small so I don't know if I'll ever use them, but they look pretty.

Oh great, I'll make sure to go look. Thanks

Very nice. Great for Xmas but with the blues it is also appropriate for any time of year.

I think your quilt is absolutely beautiful. I've never made a true scrap quilt, because there aren't many I really like, but I love yours. When I look at the variety of fabric you used, I'm astonished that it came out looking so cohesive. You found the perfect border color to tie it all together. I am going to keep your links so that when I get enough scraps I can try it too. Beautiful work. Lois
