Today was the last yard sale for the season. She had it marked $15, but said I could have it for $10. It's missing a few parts but came with some accessories, most of which I don't have a clue what they are. I'll post separate pictures later of each one, so maybe someone can tell me what they are.

Nice, and you can't beat the price!! :)

The attachments from top left:

Ruffler, ruffler, NO IDEA!
Shirring plate, adjustable hemmer, looks like a braider?, a bobbin holder out of a puzzlebox, seam guide.
the fan shaped thing is also out of a puzzlebox, held the tools, binding attachments, and a foot holder for a puzzlebox(?)

How exciting! A Redeye is the only machine I want. Good find.

pocoellie 10-29-2011 12:53 PM

Charlee-I did know the ruffler and the buttonholer. Thanks for the other, I did think one was some kind of guide, but didn't have a clue as to the rest. How do you use them/attach them?

Glenn-what is the back clamp attachment?

sparkys_mom 10-29-2011 12:54 PM

Nice! I'm curious - how big is the throat on that machine?

bkb 10-29-2011 12:56 PM

You are so lucky!!!!

pocoellie 10-29-2011 12:58 PM

sparkys_mom- I'll go measure it and get back to you.

AngieS 10-29-2011 01:03 PM

I have my mother in law's machine and table. We use the table as an entrance piece, but I've never even thought to use the machine. It weighs a ton and I don't have any accessories. But once I get my new sewing room going, I will see what I can do. You have encouraged me.

Opal Jane 10-29-2011 01:21 PM

What a steal!! Great find...Congrats!

quilt1950 10-29-2011 01:21 PM

WOW. It is just beautiful. I wouldn't care if it never sewed another stitch. It's lovely to look at!

Linda-in-iowa 10-29-2011 01:22 PM

I would love to find something like that. Look at the details. She's a beauty!

Charleen DiSante 10-29-2011 01:22 PM

What a find, you will have fun finding out what the parts are.

NO IDEA = Buttonholer (I think!)

Wow, a red eye, and a real beauty at that!!!! Congratulations! I have all those assorted accessories except for that big one. Can't wait to have someone explain exactly what it is. What a wonderful price too-enjoy it.

Oh my gosh, I just went to Craigslist and some idiot (oh I mean really optimistic person) has a red eye listed for $600.00. Says he has to sell it to raise money for taxes...lol I wish him alot of luck...lol
Oh forgot to mention there is another red eye offered a few adds ahead of his that they only want $500.00 for.
I need to move to a cheaper area.

Okay! The throats on these old machines always look enormous to me so I'm really curious.

Sewfine 10-29-2011 03:05 PM

What a great yard sale find for $10. Lucky you.

annthreecats 10-29-2011 03:11 PM

Beautiful Singer treadle. I hope you fix it up and use it.

scrapykate 10-29-2011 03:12 PM

I found a treadle leather on ebay recently. came with good directions on how to put on too. Can't remember the seller's name though.

KatFish 10-29-2011 03:39 PM

Congratulations on your great find.

pocoellie 10-29-2011 03:46 PM

cindyg19-I'm glad I encouraged you to possibly try out your treadle.

QuiltE-yes, the big clunky thing is a buttonholer, one of the few accessories that I did know.

GreatStarter-buttonholer

sparkys_mom-what I came up with, from the right of the needle to the big post,(I hope you understand what I'm talking about), is 8 1/2" and roughly 5 1/2" in height from the top of the bed to the bottom of the arm.

annthreecats-yes, I do eventually plan on restoring both machine and cabinet.

Mariposa 10-29-2011 03:47 PM

Fabulous find! Congrats!!

That's a pretty respectable throat size. Thanks for checking.

pocoellie 10-29-2011 04:01 PM

sparkys_mom- you're entirely welcome. I'm so glad my dh let me get it, I only have 9 other machines, but no treadles, so he said I did need a treadle. Isn't he great?

craftybear 10-29-2011 05:32 PM

wow, great find, have fun restoring it

KerryK 10-29-2011 05:44 PM

He's a keeper! :)

Lmiller1647 10-29-2011 06:08 PM

Wow! My grandmother had one just like it. Does it use a long bobbin instead of a round one? I remember sitting on the treadle.

pocoellie 10-29-2011 06:26 PM

Lmiller1647-no, it has the round bobbin, but I do have another Singer, in a wooden case that has a shuttle bobbin. I need to restore it also, along with another 2. LOL
