i love it you did a great job
Looking at one block of any thing is not going to make th whole quilt a beauty. It becomes beauty AFTER completed. Sort of like a rose unfolding... continue to unfold. :) I love one of a kind... yur children will fight for it for it's oddity.. HUGS :) I like what you have started...
The more I look at it the more I like it Think I may have to look in Goodwill store Maybe they sell them My man was't that much of a tie man
It's fantastic! Please keep going!
Curses! I mentioned to hubby the idea of making a quilt from his old ties, and he said "No"! No one is going to touch his ties. Guess they'll just hang in the closet forever.
I made a pillow for my dad for father's day one year out of his ties and then a couple of years ago, I made a quilt. They are hard to work with but make beautiful quilts.
Think you are doing a fine job. My daughter hopes to do one with her dads ties soon. He has a lot of cartoon character ties, I think it will look great. She needs one like the clown you have in yours.
That is awesome!
Such a nice variety of neckties! Nice job! |
oh i like it. it is gorgeous

I can't wait for my husband to retire so I can take his collection of Jerry Garcia ties and do this.
wow very nice idea and it looks fantastic ,too
Your neckties are great. when my dad died my mom made a round table topper from dad's ties, wouldn't trade it for anything, she put a pretty fringe on it and it's an heirloom...good job...
I LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!! :) I have a BUNCH of ties that used to be my dad's - NOW I know what to do with them!!
It is so pretty and very clever!
I like it. I think it's really pretty.
I love it. I made a bow tie quilt using 215 different silk ties.
Nice and different. Great idea.
I like it...you probably think it's busy because so many diff fabrics...But I'm doing one with all my diff scrapes and if you sew it onto a solid background...you'll love it....
I like it...
Go for it.
I like it!!
I really like it. Soo colorful. I have made 1 out of my husbands ties & want to make 2 more to give to my daughter & son as a memory of their dad... I also have a sack full from recent widow that attends church with me & it would be neat to make her a pillow top with them. She didn't know what to do with them.....
What a great idea...:)
Oh wow...i just love it........did you just use the ties without foundation?? I`ve been working on two tie quilts for quite a while....i really love yours....I have hundreds of ties...intend on making a valance at camp with the ends...but i think i might try one like yours.....i really love it...nice job!!!
I think it is absolutely gorgeous, one of the best uses of ties I have seen. Now I will have to start hitting the thrift stores for ties!
I really love the colors of the spokes. Not sure about the center though...I think I'd try a brighter color there...maybe a blue or red or yellow. Are your ties silk or poly? Or a combination? Would love to see the finished quilt!
This is my next project, hope mine turns out as well as yours.
I'm loving it. Others are right about the backgroud fabric pulling it all together. But in the end, you have to like it. If you're still not satisfied, try grouping them together by color. Like all blues in one block, reds, black and whites, browns, etc. Maybe that would suit your fancy. You did a great job. Sometimes, designs have to grow on you. Leave it up where you see it alot. Maybe it will finally click one day.
Wish I didn't get rid of my DHs old neckties. Now I see your good idea and could use some. I think you should use your block for a center and make the rest of the quilt in something else picking up the colors from the ties. (Unless you have tons of ties to use up).
It's lovely. You've done a great job
Beautiful and like many of the other posts I have read; I two hope to make one someday
I love it i want one 2
I wish I would have done this with the tie quilt I made. It would have been so much easier. Looking forward to seeing it when it's completed. Very nice job!
wonderful job using the ties. I have some of my husband's but he did not wear flashy colorful ties mostly browns, greens and I do not think they will make a very pretty quilt. Your dresden is great, are you going to have enough to do more blocks or are you going to make more with different fabrics. Please share when you have completed it. I also think the background will make the quilt.

I like it. I think it will make a beautiful quilt.
i love it.I want to make a dresdan too,but am trying to find a pattern.
I am looking for ways to use my husbands ties. He passed away Jan 19, 2013 and I want to make something for our daughters to have from his things. Thought a quilt of ties would work just right. Maybe intermingle some of the fabrics from his shirts as the background?
That is beautiful. Fons and Porter had a show on about this last Saturday. I am fascinated by these.
