What do you think? I'm really not sure I like it. ::sigh::
I love it! I want to do one some day!
You did a really nice job putting all those together. I know how difficult it is to see such a variety of fabrics and wonder if it all goes together. In this case, if this is one of many dresdens that will be in a quilt, the background fabric will be what will pull it all together. Depending what you use, I envision a really handsome quilt!
It turned out great. That's my plan for my husband's ties too.
 |
i love it.

what's NOT to like? i think it's pretty neat!

Sometimes it's hard to envision the finished project with just one block. I agree that adding the background will make a big difference too, it will help tie it all together....lol. But I do like what you have done so far. It is very bright and I love bright colored things. Keep going and I am sure you will see how beautiful and original it is.

It looks nice! have fun finishing it!
I'll be honest with you -- I've never seen a necktie quilt before...and thought the idea was crazy but I LOVE this one!!!! Keep going -- I want to see a whole quilt out of it!!! I have a vision of it together with red sashing!!!

Try moving it to a darker background. I'm not the best at visualizing possibilities, though I think black would be too much. Maybe a taupe? or a dark grey? even a red? perhaps a batik? It'll somewhat depend on how many more colours your other ties are going to bring forward. I think it's going to be one beautiful quilt! |
Love it, love it, love it!
You don't get a lot of choice when it is neckties. But I think that center is wonderful and really pulls them all together.
I like it ALOT!!! If you don't want it....I'll let you know where to send it.....................I think it's Great!!
that is way cool !
I love it! If they are ties family members have worn it would be a great 'remember when' quilt...
Beautiful! My question would be can you do that using Wonderunder. I want to make one but don't do applique.
Looks beautiful to me. I'm sure when you find the right background color, it will really pop out and you will love it. Great job - I love dresden plates.
I just did a necktie dresden with all shades of blue (avatar) and I think it's rather boring. I like your's much, much better. But it does need a darker background - I wish I had done the same with mine.
Good use of neckties
Looks great, the ties are always so colorful.
Thrift shops always have a lot of ties for sale. But can the finished project be washed? |
I think it is perfect!!!!!!! Add your background and I am sure you will love it!!!
I think it's gorgeous!
I have no idea what ties you have, but I wonder if you would like it better if you could insert some plain colors or less busy ties here and there around the circle? I think there is no place for the eye to land right now. IMHO.
Wish I'd known about quilting when my husband died--I would have used his ties this way. |
What a great idea for using old ties! My husband used to have an office job and had to wear a shirt and tie every day. Now he's on the road and can dress more casually. Now I know what to do with his old ties! It'll be a great surprise for him. Thanks for the idea!

I LOVE it!!!
great quilt idea for father's day gift, you did great
Keep going. I'm sure you will like it when it's completed. I think it will be beautiful.
I think it's stunning! When you get all the "plates" finished I'm sure you will love it. I am making one also, using various red ties for the center and think I might use a dark grey background. We'll see. Just don't stop now as this will be a very unique quilt.
I als agree that it depends on the background that will be used. You might not like it now, but I'm sure it will be very nice when you finish it, and the recepient will just love it!
I think it is wonderful and you did a great job.
