Plain chocolate brown with big feather or swirly quilting = rope like pattern around the edge?
|
I think I would pick one of the dark browns you have in the quilt and try to find a solid brown like it and use a very narrow strip then perhaps some of the blue you have in the quilt in a narrow strip next to the brown. Maybe even use brown like in a tut I saw of Sharon Schambers as a cording like for the binding or in the border, go to her site and check it out. Just type in her name in the search and she has a lot of tuts. I think something plain since there is so much going on in the rest of the quilt. Don't detract from the quilt by using a busy border.

Nicely done.. I agree with the plain border ideas

I think it needs a very plain border, a blender fabric or batik! :D

Have you considered using a deep burgundy as the frame? I love the way this quilt looks as if it is on fire.

I think a small dark brown and then a light orange

Maybe try something like a Moda Marble in one of the brown shades. The quilt is really lovely!!

I would probably audition a rich medium brown for a narrow first border followed by a wider rich darker brown as the "frame".
Will be interested in seeing the final results. Great work...I love your placement of the log cabins blocks. |
Your quilt is so beautiful, don't distract with something so obvious, I would like a plain dark brown frame.
