I'm making a new quilt for my new house and wondering if you all think my stashing is going to be to busy for this quilt. If i need to rip no problem I'm an EXPERT at having to rip out seams :)
Thank you all God Bless Loretta |
My own personal opinion is I like the idea of putting sashing there, but that fabric is a bit busy with the other prints you have. Perhaps a nice light colored solid? Like a pale green or something I think would look nice. Just my opinion of course!! :)

i agree, too busy, and i would go with a med/dark solid or near solid, love the blocks
I agree. an apple green solid or something similar would be my opinion. You can't be any more expert at ripping out seams than me. We all take our turn I think.
Yep go with a solid...
I'm thinking a narrower sashing in a lighter but same "tone" as the pink in the block would look great. With corner blocks of a lighter (but same tone) of green. A solid or mottled fabric.
Or visa versa - green sashing with pink corner blocks. |
Ditto here, and yes I take my turn as well :D
Beautiful blocks!! |
Your blocks are beautiful. IMO a medium green tone-on-tone sashing would offset the light fabrics.

how about a tone on tone; it will break it up but not be so busy
very nice but tend to agree with most ...need a solid ...green or pink...and cornerstones in the opposite colors...could even make cornerstones out of the fabric you have used for the current sashings

Agree with most. Blocks are beautiful. I think the sashing is a bit busy, but I'm not a "solid" person. Tone-on-tone to me would be better. The color depends on the emphasis you want to make whether it is green or pink. Green might have it "pop" more. Good Luck.
Go with a solid color that compliments the prints in your blocks.
I would go with a solid that has movement maybe..but still reads solid..go darker..nice quilt !!
if it's all you have, it will work fine. but if you can change it, i'd try other fabrics.
i would go with a solid
thank you all so much for the help. my instinct was telling me solid..but i love the sashing fabric so much..so I'll us it as my backing or binding...awww what about a 1 inch border between two 3 inch solid borders with mitered corners like a picture frame? such as green, print,pink.. or vice verse.again thank you all off i go to put in a movie and rip rip rip..
thank you... loretta. |
darker solid would be my choice
To me it's not that it's busy, it's that it's so much lighter than the other prints so doesn't look like it belongs. If you want a print sashing - I would go with just using one of the prints that are in the block. A green print that is of the same tones as the other prints would look nice also.
Another opinion here! I like the idea of the pink fabric in the block but a little narrower so as to not over power the blocks.

When I choose fabrics, first I get the colors, light med and dk. Then I go back, and look at the prints. Do I have a small print, medium, and something that looks like a solid, or a larger print. So just as we have a contrast in light med dk, we have a contrast in the size of our prints.
yes, maybe a green or a shade darker pink. Try laying different fabrics along the blocks before you rip out the sashing. Barb
Blocks are beautiful, I am with the others, you need a solid for sashing. Great job.

I think it would look nice without any sashing.
I r eally like the blocks! |
Definitely a darker solid color sashing. The color depends on what color you want to bring out to highlight you room decor. You have lots of choices.
I love your colors but I do think the sashing strip color is a little weak. Maybe try the same fabric as the block inner (the print) points.

I love that sashing fabric but it is pulling my eye away from your great blocks.
I vote solid pink sashing. Gorgeous quilt! |
I agree to busy for me!!!
I would go with a nice batik, love your colors.
The fabric colors you are using are very sweet together and coordinate nicely and if you want the block to be the center of attention then make the sashing solid but not dark to get a wonderful result for the finished piece. One suggestion for the next time check your measurement on cutting your triangles, you have eliminated your seam allowance so your points are cut off. Moosegirl

I agree with most everyone else, that the print seems a bit to busy and that a solid color would be pretty. Can't wait to see it finished.
Way too busy for me, I would put a green or maybe a pink for the sashing. I guess it depends on which color you want to bring out.
I love your blocks! I am too new to offer an opinion on sashing. Beautiful blocks !!
Too busy I'd go with a solid
