Beautiful quilt. I like the second one better.
I actually would like the thin strip of black, then the print fabric, then a binding in black. I think that would tie everything together.
I really like the black better..the other is "too much" I think..but it is going to be gorgeous when you are done..I just know it
Now what will you do?! I vote for the first photo.....very elegant :-D
Both are nice. I agree with the small black with a wider red?
I love that block pattern, and your choice of fabrics!
What about trying the red border, but only as wide as the black framing within the quilt blocks and then the narrow black binding? Or, a black border the same width as the frames with a red binding? |
#1

I like the second pic what a beauty!!!!!!!!!!!1
I like the added border before the black one.
First one makes it look 3D

I agree with quilt mama. I'd do a small black border to finish the quilt, then the larger red (georgeous Asian print).
I've made the BQ before--as well as the fairly new BQ3. |
Just needs the black binding.
I like # 1. Floating the main part of the quilt is very elegant. The red makes it look more american traditional.
It is gorgeous! |
My personal opinion--I would use black, make it 1/2"-1" wider than the black strips in the quilt itself.
(Isn't it amazing how many different ideas we have? ) |
The simple black..it keeps the beauty of an Asian look !!
Beautiful quilt and I like the 2nd picture with the red Asian print with black binding, as it pull the quilt all together.

Beautiful quilt! I like them both! Any chance there is enough black for a thin border and the binding?

Here is a picture of the BQ I made for my neice Natalie
check out the striped binding closeup--I wanted to pull in the yellow as well as the red and black! |
I like the black. But you can not go wrong either way! So pretty!
R E D for sure
I like the simplicity of the first one - black only. You could use the red in the backing.
I like the second one.
I would say do a 4" black border with a strip of about 1-1/2" of the floral in the center of the black.....
I like the first one the best. It looks like the squares are floating.
Be still my heart! I adore the pattern and the way you put the colors into it! How beautiful! I think both borders look lovely... I like the thickness of the red but i love the crispness of the black! Well done and thanks for sharing your work!

I like the first one!! definately the first one... Ater top quilting it will be perfect not too busy.... the first one..:)
Reversing the width of the red and black borders in the second pic would provide a wonderful space to show case final quilting stitches. Although I don't think you can go wrong with any of choices suggested here.
I would audition a narrow red border then the black border.
I like them both but I do like the first one better.

The first is my pick. What a spectacular quilt!!
Sorry I am no help,I love them both!
I like the simplicity of the first one. The 2nd border seems to overpower the quilt. Picture that bold red around the entire quilt - it will pull your eye away from the hard work of the main quilt. But, that's my personal preference. Love the quilt !!
I love your quilt! I would use the second one, but perhaps make the border a bit narrower (about 2/3 what it is now)? Maybe even include a very narrow black border between the neutral and the asian? Or maybe some 1/4 inch piping? I feel the asian would be really set off with both sides bordered in black. Whatever you choose I am sure it will be beautiful!!
I like them both but I think I like #1 best. Very pretty quilt.
Have you considered using both colors? I think a black border, then the red and bind in black would be nice.
I like thequiltmama's suggestion. The quilt will be beautiful no matter what you choose.
I love the first one, it is more elegant
