This is my first King (120x120) size quilt made from this BQ Pattern from Maple Island. It is also my first attempt at working with Kona Bay Asian fabrics. My question is: Which border looks the best with the overall body of the quilt? I can see both pros and cons in each. The black on the edge will be the narrow quilt binding...nothing more. Thank you for the help!

I like the black, it keeps more with the simple, clean Asian look. That quilt is stunning!
Both are nice. I think I like the first one the best. Either way this quilt is so beautiful!:)
I like the second one, it makes the colors pop!
I like the simplicity of the first. Elegant looking.
I much prefer the black, draws the eye inwards more
I like the second one because it highlights the "asian-ness" even more
The first is very elegant and keeps the simplicity of this beautiful quilt very sharp.
Just the black sets it it off great
both are beautiful but i like the first one! for some reason the red stands out more for me.
Either way, you got a win win situation. Beautiful quilt, would look good either way!
Wow either way you have a winner, I'm leaning to #1
I like the first one, makes the flower squares the focus of the quilt. The second one (floral border) competes with the floral blocks.
wow, first of all that turned out gorgeous. Second, I don't think you can go wrong with either one. Have you thought of a tiny black border then the large red boarder? :)

#2
Wow, both are gorgeous, but I prefer the 1st one.
Another thought if you need more of a border is a very narrow red one with a wider black one.
#1 is my fav., b/c it looks very elegant.
I like the 1st one the best but both are nice. Let us know which way you go.
Both look great so go with which color you like best for where you will use the quilt. I find myself drawn to the red.

I was going to say the red, but once you put the red there it seems to be too much... wonder if you just used a plain red? or black...
I like the first one. It keeps the focus on that beautiful red! Great job.
I would do the black then the red; all of my teachers tell me that you have to give the eyes a place to rest so that the quilt can be fully enjoyed.
small blk 1 1/2 inch then the red
I like the first one. Simple and elegant.
Beautiful quilt! The first one is my first choice but both are beautiful.
I think I like the first one. Beautiful quilt.
The first is elegant. I like the second because the fabric draws the eye back to the center.
i like the first one the best - it floats that beautiful center and does not detract from it.
I like the 1st one better!!!
I like the first one best.
I agree.

Both are lovely but I like the first - makes the overall effect more elegant. I've never seen that pattern before - it is beautiful with the fabrics you have chosen.
Not sure if I am reading your question correctly. Do you plan to use a black binding with either chose?
My choice would be the red border, it really sets off the blocks nicely. Kat |
Stunning with either ... but then I love that patteren!!
That is a beautiful quilt. At first I liked the first, simple binding in black; but the more I look I rather like the red flower border. Either way, it is really gorgeous. Show us again when it is finished.
i like the 1st one
Looks like you're going to end up with a 50-50 on this one. I'd go for the red. I think it makes it "pop."
