Need a quick gift? 10-Minute Table Runner it is!

My friend had a birthday and I had no idea what to give her, had already given her bags, pot holders, etc., and was at a loss when I remembered that she loves cupcakes and thought I would give the 10-Minute Table Runner pattern a try. FYI, it doesn't take ten minutes, but it certainly is faster to put together than a standard runner. I added batting so I could make it a little more fancy with some quilting. From start to finish, it took three hours, compared to the usual 10-15 hours I spend on a pieced table runner with binding. Super quick, easy, and would make a great hostess gift as well. Measure 12 1/2 x 39 1/2"

Have a beautiful day!

P.S. She loved it!

I love your table runner. Isn't it funny how they say 10 minutes and there's no way you can even cut the pieces in 10 minutes?

bigsister63 01-05-2014 12:48 PM

CUTE!!! I love these runners!!! easy and fun to make with different fabrics!

I think they must mean AFTER you cut the fabric! Maybe in a few years I can do the 10-20 minute items in the time they say it takes to do them.
Also wanted to say beautiful runner and also LOVE the cupcake buttons. :)

Could you please tell us how you got the padding in the runner?

rootyr 01-05-2014 12:59 PM

That is beautiful!

I cut the batting 12 1/2" by width of fabric, and loosely hand basted it to the backing, just to hold it in place during stitching and turning. I removed the basting stitches once I started quilting it. This worked pretty well, except the pointed ends are a little bulky, due to 2 layer of batting being stitched at that point (hence, the heavier quilting). I think spray basting would work well, and maybe trimming the batting to a point at the ends before turning.

I know! I guess if you have everything ready to go, don't iron, or clean up after yourself, maybe you could get it done in 10.
