I'm getting ready to bind my 3-D pinwheel baby quilt and when I mentioned using the backing for the binding, some of you said the solid pink would be a better choice and make it more "delicate" looking. Sooo..., I took some pics of it both ways, so see what you think. I need to get my binding cut and sewn on so I can take it with me on vacation next week for some handwork. Bear with me, there are 4 pictures and I just bought a new laptop.

I like the backing fabric. It defines the borders of the quilt. The pink seems to just fade away.

The pink is very pale but maybe that's the look you want? It does look soft, but the print makes you look to the border.

I was leaning toward the print (backing), but thought I'd give both a tryout! Looks like I'll be going with the print. Thanks for your opinions...I knew it would be almost instant...and it was!

If you don't want the binding to show up much, the pink. If you want the binding to be another design element, the print.

IMO, the print creates a more defined "frame" for the quilt, which I like. The pink just sort of fades the edge off into the sunset; looks indefinite to me instead of delicate.

That's a hard choice! For me I think it would come down to which fabric would look cleaner when dirty. I mean if it's a baby quilt and will be used often. Would the pink show more stains than the print would? That is how I would decide.
