What a beautiful quilt for both your Aunt and you!

Wow that's pretty! Love the blues and especially love the scallop border. That's so special that you took the time out to teach your aunt how to sew the stack and whack quilt. Good for you :)

WHAT AN INSPIRATION !!!!! I, too, received my MIL's quilt top after she passed away and I want you to know that although I HATE cutting someone else's threads, I felt so close to her and cherished the time quietly spent "with her". The quilt in now on our bed and is a blessing to sleep under.

Your aunts quilt is absolutly beautiful...Can you tell me if you do your binding before or after you quilt it?
thanks JANET |
its gorgeous and the memory is pricless

I love Stack & Whack, what are the sizes of each block, they look so much smaller than 10" which my mentor told me was the smallest I could do, the quilt is beautiful, and I just bought the scallop thingy but haven't tried it yet..kinda scared I guess...

What a lovely quilt. You should be very proud and your Aunt should be very happy!!
|
Will you teach me to do scalloped borders? That looks fabulous!
|
It is a beautiful quilt. She did a wonderful job, sans the thread cuts. Perhaps with her age, she misunderstood you and thought you said to leave them all. Stuff Happens, But, you did good to clean it all up and quilt it so beautifully. you are a good niece

beautiful quilt. nice job

My mom is also 82 years young, and I recently quilted a quilt for her, which she'll be giving to my DD21 for Christmas. I had to take it off the frame and remove part of the side and bottom borders due to waving, then put it back on the frame to finish quilting it. But you know what? I didn't mind a bit! I figure I'm lucky to still have her, and I'm glad she's still healthy enough to quilt. I know it takes extra time to "clean up" after some of our older quilters, but isn't it worth it? :)

Not one thread was cut!!!!! I spent 4-5 hours cleaning it first.Oh, well, I finally got it on the frame and it is really beautiful. I will post a picture but it is without the binding on it. I showed her how to make scallops and she is doing the binding now. When she saw the quilt all quilted, her smile was worth it all!!! Love my Aunt Betty.

God Bless her :)
