What if I start over... What do you think of this layout? Remember, I want to use the pieces that were cut in the 70's without adding anything. This has all of the 11 different hexigon fabrics, and of course it isn't a finished product (just pieces laid out on my floor).

I like it, although I think I might make the center piece a different color. A piece of the dark green would make the center look like a flower. The dark blue would be okay as well. Otherwise, I think it looks great.

That is a cool idea. I still like the traditional Grandmothers flower garden too.

The hexagons quilt I received as a wedding gift had a dark diamond shaped lattice with a large flower in the center and smaller ones in the surrounding smaller diamonds.
Not sure how many rounds on the center flower but the smaller ones were either one or two rounds (may have been some of both sizes). Slept under it for years, but didn't pay that much attention to the pattern (wasn't planning on quilting then either)and now it's gone with the rest of the stuff when our house burned several years ago. |
Oh How did I get myself into this project???? Feeling a little trapped by my boss... ugh!

The blues and green seem like a different flower to me, love the rest of colors together

I think it is all personal preference. Your quilt looks very nice. If you want it to look more like a flower, I would recommend a yellow center. I am working on hand quilting Grandmother's flower garden with a yellow center 1930's fabric and enjoying it very much. If you want to leave the brown, that's fine too. It is what YOU like.

I like this one. It seems much less green. Would you leave it as a hexagon, or square it up?

I gotta tell you I love it! Maybe I'm crazy but I love the bright mosaic look to it.
