The entire project took less than a couple of hours it went directly from my head to the fabric.. and using soft fuse made it really easy to do.

What "soft fuse" did you use? Was it Mistyfuse? Beautiful.

It is called SOFT FUSE ...got it at my quilt shop friday and I love it !! used a lot of it and it is not cheap but it works beautifully..

That is what I figured... :):) I even have ladybugs up the vine there is some things you really have to look for. I wish I could see her face when she is enjoying it. I loved her son so much ... he was our best friend ;)

I was asked by a friend to do something with birds for her mother in law who is in a nursing home..( i had also met pearl a dear sweet lady who is the mom of a good friend of mine who died this year ) she had had a stroke last year.. and can no longer feed the birds.. at least she can watch them out the window* now.. much left to do on this.. I am thinking of adding a lot of embellishments for her to look at each day :)

Tweety2911 10-24-2010 12:47 PM

That is beautiful. She will love it and you for taking the time and patience to make this wonderful quilt.

leakus 10-24-2010 12:50 PM

What a beautiful job you've done. How do you do the birds? Do you cut them off a fabric? or you applique the differnt fabrics? They are perfect!

Yes, that's an excellent idea! Embellishments add so much to a quilt. The Le Jardin quilt in my avator has lots of embellishments, they are fun to work with! She'll love it when you're done....although it looks fabulous now!
Blessings,
MaryAnna

She will really enjoy this for sure.
My MIL was in NH. one suggestion; put a name on it, so no one will take it. My MIL things were stollen when she pasted away!!!! it was awful!! Don't ever want that to happen to anyone, again.

What a beautiful sweet gift for the lady.
And yes, put her name on it. Not on the back, where it can be hidden, but on the front. My Mom was in a nursing home for 2 yrs., and nobody even waited for her to pass away to steal her things. I did her painted and appliqued sweats to wear....even painted her name down the arm of the sweatshirts, and down the leg of the pants, and they STILL all disappeared. Even the collage of family photos I had done for her disappeared. After much searching, a nurse found the photos loose in a drawer at the desk. Someone had stolen the frame.

Nice gesture for your friend. It reminds me of O'Henry's story of "The Last Leaf". I am inspired to make a pictorial quilt. Thanks for posting.
