Love the preview - can't wait to see more.

lallyann 06-29-2010 01:59 PM

My daughter's saw some of these panels just the other day! If I bought one and cut it up they'd be very unhappy with me! When I saw the panels I never thought of the OBW, but your OBW is going to be gorgeous!! I love it!! Can't wait to see it finished

This is the first attempt at laying them out...I am sure that I will be moving them around quite a few times more before I am happy with it lol!!

I DO know what you mean, I actually got 7 and intend to use the full panel on the reverse so I don't feel too guilty, I picked them up for less than £12 in the one shop in Manchester that sells craft fabrics, stuck in a dumpster of seconds which I nearly walked right past!!

:D

candi 06-29-2010 02:08 PM

I like that!OBW is on my list! I think you picked out great fabric for it.

Marlys 06-29-2010 02:10 PM

That is gorgeous! I would never have thought about using a panel for OBW. I can hardly wait to see the finished project!

sharon b 06-29-2010 02:13 PM

WOW Gorgeous  I would never have thought to use that panel for a OBW either

Thanks for your compliments everyone!!

Well I have searched through ALL the fabric in the store but they were all small scale designs and using panels ensures that you have no repeats to even worry about!!
Each panel is about 24" x 44", I was a bit concerned as the black outline really stands out and I thought it may detract from the subtlety of the usual OBW...mine isn't really blending as it should... :-}

You did a great job on the little girl's face. Looks good.

Rhonda 06-29-2010 02:26 PM

welcome back Izy!! This project just totally amazed me! I would never have seen a OBW in that panel! Good to see you are back to quilting again!

Thanks Rhonda, yes I had one of those 'light bulb' moments and did a silly happy dance in the shop when it dawned on me what I could do with the panels!!

They are not really 'my' colours, but I thought nice enough to practice on!!

  :-)

Rhonda 06-29-2010 02:42 PM

LOL One of these days when I have a spare minute or two I just have to try this!! Maybe in the next few years I will find time!

Hey Rhonda, I think you have a special clock that has 36 hours in a day to achieve what you do!! LOL!!

:-)

p.s. I haven't done any sewing for six months or so....but my bedroom looks like a sewing factory all ready (much to John's frustration) lol!!

sheilainoz 06-29-2010 02:50 PM

no way could I have cut this up ... but after seeing what you did with it makes me think again :)

som 06-29-2010 02:54 PM

Butterflyspain 06-29-2010 02:58 PM

Izy, I love it, reminds me of your first quilt with the colours very subtle. It wouldn“t have occured to me either to use a panel. When I have finished by now 4 UFO“s will try this out .

The colours are so lovely, you know where to send it, right!

MinnieKat 06-29-2010 05:22 PM

This looks the same as a Stack N Whack that I did several years ago. Is it the same just a different name?

reach for the stars 2 06-29-2010 05:22 PM

Love it. I got the book after seeing some of these. I have to get started on one of these.

lallyann 06-29-2010 05:54 PM

That will be so nice to put a full panel on the back! Good idea! I may have to go back to that shop I was at and buy a couple of panels :) Thanks so much for sharing! I think its turning out beautifully!!

JEM65 06-29-2010 06:28 PM

Izy your OBW is going to be fabulous! I love the colors and the one leftover panel for the backing is ingenious! Please remember to share photos of your finished quilt with us!

sharone 06-29-2010 07:41 PM

Wow - what a good idea. I saw these panels recently and did not buy any. Think I will have to go back asap and get some. Thanks for posting the pics and sharing your ideas.

Quilter7x 06-29-2010 07:45 PM

You're going to get a huge variety of colors and designs from that fabric. It's coming out really nice. :)

Janstar 06-29-2010 07:56 PM

Way to go Izy!! It looks fabulous! Did you have to use all of your panels? It's nice to have one to show everyone what you started with. They never believe it! Glad to see you posting again!
