Thanks to a tutorial by Cutie. I jumped in the OBW pool. Way easier than I thought. Will post pictures when I finish getting it sewn together.

Too cool!! I tried it, but my fabric was a bad choice so now I'm searching for better fabric! ;)

pab58 01-12-2011 11:02 AM

That quilt is going to look so awesome!! I'll be anxiously awaiting the pictures of the finished project!! My 11 year old niece is a horse fanatic and would absolutely LOVE the fabric you chose! Who is the manufacturer and/or designer and the name of the design? I would like to locate some to make a quilt for her.

I like the idea you have of placing your blocks on individual paper plates. I'll have to steal that one!!! :D

cutebuns 01-12-2011 11:31 AM

Well done!

craftybear 01-12-2011 11:32 AM

wow, beautiful fabric and thanks for taking a picture of the fabric before cutting and showing it cut up, I can't wait to see the finished quilt

Thanks again!

amma 01-12-2011 11:38 AM

Awesome!! Love those blocks :D:D:D

cherylynne 01-12-2011 11:44 AM

Very pretty blocks. I want to try one of these soon.

BizzieLizzie 01-12-2011 12:12 PM

Lovely!

lovingmama 01-12-2011 12:19 PM

Looking at the plates makes me hungry, sorry!

Somehow they remind me of pies, yummy.

I would like to see the quilt done too, it looks great so far.

jdiane318 01-12-2011 01:45 PM

That is a great tip --- using separate paper plates for each block. Sure it could be used for other blocks but how creative. Thanks

I STOLE the paper plate idea from someone else on this site.

bjnicholson 01-12-2011 02:50 PM

Wow. I have got to jump in with you. I like the idea of the paper plates. Good way to keep them corraled, so to speak!

Quilter7x 01-12-2011 02:51 PM

Wow, that's coming out great! When I saw the fabric, I wasn't sure how it would be, but it is fabulous!!!

wolph33 01-12-2011 02:56 PM

Awesome!!!! Can't wait to see the finished quilt.

hperttula123 01-12-2011 06:10 PM

That is wonderful so far. Your quilt is going to drop jaws when it is finished!!!! Are you going to keep a little bit of the fabric in it...maybe on the back?

Jingle 01-12-2011 06:15 PM

Very nice, I would like to see it finished.

pattypurple 01-12-2011 06:23 PM

The blocks are great. Hard to believe that they came from that fabric. Really like the paper plate idea. Must remember that.

Pat

purple_butterfly 01-12-2011 06:43 PM

Looking good  I think the paper plates were amma's idea :-D

caliquocat 01-12-2011 06:48 PM

I'm surprised how well your fabric turns into creative hexagons. You are off to a good start.

I started too, unfortunately I picked a paisley print that I loved and it just isn't working out.

itsmesuzq 01-12-2011 06:55 PM

I am totally addicted to this (OBW) process. I have my fabric and the OBW book and hopefully I will have time to start cutting tomorrow. I love the paper plate idea too. Please keep us updated as this beautiful creation is "born". Great fabric by the way!

Kathcart 01-12-2011 07:05 PM

thequilteddove 01-13-2011 04:58 AM

One of these days I'm gonna try OBW!

dsb38327 01-13-2011 05:12 AM

Dahhhhh (on me). I looked at the photos, read the post and
looked at the photos again. I was glued in on the blocks and didn't see the paper plates. I read the post again, looked at the photos and bingo! There were the paper plates. So funny. The plates are a great idea and I will remember to use them when I learn the OBW= One Block Wonder.
Thank you for the work in progress photos. The whole piece
of fabric is excellent by itself. Your blocks are awesome. I copied and pasted them onto my desktop so I could enlarge them. Would you be willing to take a photo of each single block for us? Stand over the top of it so you can give the members all of the detail in each block? I know it will be a lot of work for you but if you will/can do it I feel they will be enjoyed. There is one block that
looks like the horses are standing around a campfire. Another block has their heads. The blocks are just awesome. Love your work in progress, the quilt is going to
be amazing.

Crickett Sweet 01-13-2011 05:52 AM

I just love your idea of putting the pieces on paper plates. It looks like a great way to store them and stay organized while sewing. Thanks.

I agree--what a great way to keep things "in order". Thanks for sharing. Love the way the fabric looks in the blocks.

pomlover 01-13-2011 07:08 AM

klgreene 01-13-2011 08:58 AM

It just amazes me every time I see one of these and what the original fabric started out as. I would have never thought of that fabric. Amazing.

lynnie 01-13-2011 11:04 AM

awsome, can't wait to see the finished product

tatavw01 01-13-2011 12:50 PM
