At one point in trying to organize all of this, I was literally up to my shoulders in fabric. My cup runneth way the heck over!!!

cjomomma 03-26-2011 01:05 PM

shequilts 03-26-2011 01:05 PM

Izaquilter 03-26-2011 01:06 PM

OMG whadda stash! I love the way you have those baskets with the 'fats' in the front. What a great idea. I have all my fat qtrs. stored in a dresser & I'm constantly looking thru them when I need something. Great idea & I love your fabrics!

Grammy o'5 03-26-2011 01:06 PM

Oh My Gosh!!! I believe you were up to your shoulders!! :P
How great to have it sorted & organized! What are you going to make first?

raedar63 03-26-2011 01:06 PM

At least it is on display to enjoy and not crammed into and empty tote you can find lol. Beautiful display of fabrics:)

GwenH 03-26-2011 01:16 PM

Wow, you have some beautiful fabrics there... good job on organizing them all.

ssgramma 03-26-2011 01:17 PM

DROOL!

Jan T 03-26-2011 01:22 PM

Your stash is enviable to everyone here on the board looking at it. Your spending habit might just be a bit out of control. I want to encourage you to try to select from your stash and stay out of the quilt store. I'm afraid if you really don't go shopping, the local quilt store might have to go out of business. LOL.

I love the way you used the (matching) baskets to store your smaller pieces in front of each shelf. Very good use of space still allowing you to see what is behind.

I'm so jealous

Cherylsea 03-26-2011 01:23 PM

But it's so pretty and accessible!! I made the mistake of putting mine in bins and then stacking them. Whenever I want something it is in the bottom bin under 3-4 other bins.

Unique Creations 03-26-2011 01:25 PM

PLEASE, let me at it!! I will help you get rid of some of that!!

sueisallaboutquilts 03-26-2011 01:25 PM

Holy Smokes!!!!!!!!!!!! Can a few of us come to your house to shop??
Just a few of us lololol :D
BTW, you are great at organizing!! :D

0tis 03-26-2011 01:25 PM

I think that is a good problem...

pvquilter 03-26-2011 01:31 PM

What beautiful fabrics. I am drooling

Jan,
You're so right...it is out of control. I'm ashamed to admit it, but this is not all of it by a long shot. This doesn't include any of my flannels, home dec fabrics, Thimbleberries collections or Civil War and 30's repros. Having to organize it all was just the thing to make me realize that I simply have way too much. I'm going to be having a heck of a garage sale in May, and I will be making lots of quilters very happy, I think. It's better than many addictions, but I am taking this pretty seriously. :-)

thequilteddove 03-26-2011 01:38 PM

yup, that's a LOT of fabric lol

mommamac 03-26-2011 01:50 PM

let's see if I get this right - we saw 3 tall units FULL of neatly folded fabrics and you still have more?!

You're having a garage sale in May? I wonder how many miles/hrs away you are - my hubby wanted to take a road trip to see the States this spring... lol

debcavan 03-26-2011 01:52 PM

People collect stamps. Are they expected to have them on letters. No, so why should you have ALL of your beautiful collection in quilts

buckeyed 03-26-2011 01:52 PM

What a good organizer you are! You should have many hours of happy sewing!

Lori S 03-26-2011 01:53 PM

I'd rather have it run over than run dry!

gzuslivz 03-26-2011 01:58 PM

What impressed me more than the amount of fabric you had, was the amount of work you have done to get that all organized! Congratulations! I am very proud of you!

I am still waiting for my dd to get the rest of her stuff out of her old bedroom so that we can remove the carpeting, paint and install shelves. Then I will be organizing my stash. (She got married in July)

lovingmama 03-26-2011 02:00 PM

What a wonderful dream!

quiltsillysandi 03-26-2011 02:01 PM

Now that is some stash!!

mygirl66 03-26-2011 02:01 PM

I love the stash! WOW! And those baskets are just awesome the way you have them set up! Awesome job!

emerald46 03-26-2011 02:22 PM

To heck with the LQS, we are coming to your house! Beautifully displayed, congrats.

The shelves are floor to ceiling (about 8 ft.). My dad made them for me. Part of the reason I get away with all of this is that I am single and have no children.....hey! I deserve to have this if it makes me happy, right?

cwessel47 03-26-2011 02:49 PM

OMG - I thought I was bad! I see a penchant for pink and purple, I think. This will require more study. And when we are this bad... we find a way to organize. Your little baskets would make me nuts, however. Enjoy it and use it like crazy!
