I have no idea... it is to do with sewing?

tooMuchFabric 09-30-2010 11:12 PM

?rat trap?

KandiKane 09-30-2010 11:14 PM

It looks like what my grandmother had ,she used it for a dry press when she made down quilts.she weaved the cloth through the bars to flatten it before she was to sew it, and she also used it when she put the feathers between the cloth to help to tighten the cloth before sewing.. well thats what it looked like ..

GeriP 10-01-2010 04:21 AM

It's the bobbin or something like it for an old-time fabric or knitting mill:)

I am enjoying all the comments. I will tell you tomorrow. ;) I will give you a hint. 2 people have gotten it right.

wvdek 10-01-2010 06:21 AM

I believe it has something to do with milling fabric or yarn. Some type of a shuttle device. Probably used on a loom.
Did you get it at a flea market? I bet it is rather light weight. Looks like it would be.

DA Mayer 10-01-2010 06:32 AM

My grandmother used to tat and she had a small shuttle or whatever it was called, so my guess would be the ones who said to flatten or press before quilting.
