Oooh, another gorgeous OBW   I love it!!
|
OH K....you HAVE to name her yourself....its kinda like having a pet though. You might have to spend some more time with her before she tells you her name.
I have Bernadette and Sally. |
That is Stunning! Absolutely gorgeous! What does FMQ stand for? There are sooo many abbreviations on this site that I have no idea what they mean. Great Job! Are those quilts very hard to make? Is it a Kaleidoscope or what? Duh!!! I don't know alot.

OBW= One Block Wonder This block is made from a printed fabric. You cut the repeats apart, stack on top of each other exactly, cut into strips, then cut 60 degree triangles from the strips, making equalateral triangles. Each triangle is an exact copy of all the others in that stack, so when you sew them together they make a pattern like you'd see in a kaleidoscope. The process goes very fast, since each block is really made from 5 seams to make the block. The part that takes more time is figuring out your arrangement, before sewing your half hexagons together to make the top. See "One Block Wonders" by Maxine Rosenthal. Also "One Block Wonders Encore" by Maxine and Joy Pelzmann. They have another book coming out in April with more cubes in it. |
k3n, very nice. It's really funny, I bought the exact same fabric for my first OBW...which I've yet to have time to begin. Thank you for giving me a sneek peek at what I could end up with.

I've actually got 4 repeats left over and am thinking of doing a 4 patch version with right angle triangles too! |

I'm also posting a picture of the original fabric. For OBW fans who like to know the details - the repeat was 12", I used a single repeat and cut the strips at 3 3/4" wide and the finished quilt is 44" x 42". I wanted something fairly small to practice FMQ. Thank you for looking. :-D |
It is beautiful, I hope to make one about 2 quilts from now.
|
The fabric was so beautiful I'd have a hard time cutting into it. Do you know who mfg those daffofils in my colors??? Your OBW is amazing. Very nice. Thanx for sharing.

I love this one K!! It is gorgeous as usual! I am impressed with how quickly you get these done! The name is terrific but not as good as my One Block Woofer!!   I show it off all the time to people!! Not counting my mini how many have you done now? |
I love that pattern. Your quilt is incredible and fully captures that design. Do you find yourself looking at fabric in a new light, that of the OBW design? My quilt friends and I are all doing that now. And we've finished three quilts each.
|
That is just neat , i just love those quilts. thank you for sharing and you did a wonderful job. Penny

Not counting my mini how many have you done now? I've made and quilted 5 full size (lap or bigger) and 3 minis plus yours. There's a full size top and a banner-shaped wall hanging waiting to be quilted. I've the blocks assembled for one more, plus the fabric for I don't know how many more! |

Yes I'm always on the lookout for OBW fabric, it does make you look at fabric differently - and not only fabric! I mentally stack n whack wallpaper, rug designs, even a man's tatooed arm once. And my DH has caught it too - the other evening there was an ad on TV with a woman prancing around in a field of flowers and he started laughing. I said 'what's funny?' and he said 'I was looking to see if there was a pattern repeat in those flowers because I thought they'd make a nice OBW'! |
working on one of these now interesting to do hope mine is as pretty as yours

The larger print I have is called "Flower Show" # 2032 and also Benartex. It's the same print but the flowers are 9 - 11" across and the repeat is 24" After closer inspection, the fabric I have might be in different colors. Mine seem to be more apricot, yellow and orangey-rust for the daffodil cups. This was after I looked at your last post k3n, of your closeup pic. of your border. |
