I have read thru most of the posts here, and it seems most are in agreeance that it is "bad" That being said, I am almost afraid to say that I actually like it! Please, don't throw rocks my way!!! ;-)

judy_68 07-16-2011 01:05 PM

pab58 07-16-2011 01:06 PM

Geesh!!!! They should draw some lines on it and make it look like a basketball!!!

They did that then re applied stickers on it? I personally think it's awful and they should be shot. (not literally of course). Euuwwww

Marilynsue 07-16-2011 02:53 PM

It would be, (if possible!) even worse if it was Ohio State Colors. M go Blue!!!!

Karen K. 07-16-2011 05:23 PM

Even as bad as I want a Featherweight, I do not think I could stand sewing on this one. Oh, my!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ube quilting 07-16-2011 05:27 PM

It seems there are a lot of traditionalists here. If i had the money I would snap it up so it would stop paining everyone! I just think it is a whole lot of fun!
peace:)
There is a load of #&$^% being heaped on this cute little machine that did nothing to nobody and look at how we react!
here is what I find iritating. Why does it have to represent a school color or anything else. Anymore these days we almost have to go naked because the colors we wear might represent some rivalry or cause that may or may not be approved of. Lets get over it and stop HATING everything that is out of our comfort zone! I know I'm the odd ball for this opinion. Maybe we should all challenge ourselves by making an oranged themed quilt in this little beautys honor!
peace and a little orange to all!

Linda1 07-16-2011 06:40 PM

I like orange but not on a sewing machine. The price is too high also.

dixiechunk 07-16-2011 06:46 PM

You'd have to fight me for it! While I agree some of the dislike for this machine is a little overboard they do have a right to their opinions.

hperttula123 07-16-2011 06:49 PM

I love it!!!! I would defiantly love to have one like that. I know others differ....but that's what makes us all unique.

lue 07-16-2011 08:25 PM

I'm a University of Texas graduate and orange is our school color. If it were at a garage sale for $40 I'd grab it (if it didn't hurt my eyes)!! But I can find a black one for less than $700!!

lorraine43 07-16-2011 09:57 PM

Why would anyone do that!!!!!!

QM 07-16-2011 10:00 PM

Probably someone who really likes orange. Yugh!

Gramof6 07-17-2011 01:22 AM

To each their own I guess. I personally do not care for it but I think maybe a die hard OSU fan would love it. I like my little FW black as she came out of the factory to be. But others may not like that.

carla m 07-17-2011 06:14 AM

omg its osu orange unfortunately i know someone who would love that lol my mil shes a diehard osu fan while the rest of the family root for ou. seeing as its located in oklahoma that had to be the idea. she would really love that not sure who shed will it to though lol ??

I totally agree with you and think I will make a shocking orange mini quilt as soon as I can find something bright enough. LOL

MargeD 07-17-2011 10:46 AM

OMG - Does it glow in the dark too. I think I would have to wear sunglasses to sew with it.

IrishNY 07-17-2011 12:45 PM

Oh my...

boxerlady 07-17-2011 12:46 PM

Folks in Knoxville would love it!

Winkee 07-19-2011 08:28 AM

O my, that is scary!!!

Rachel 07-19-2011 08:30 AM

wow, that is bright!

kso 07-19-2011 10:50 AM

I used to drive an orange pickup truck, so I like orange, but that is just plain UGLY!

justflyingin 07-19-2011 11:43 AM

Will they sell it for $700, no matter what color it is? It IS ONLY a featherweight, after all....

lheartsl 07-19-2011 12:13 PM

yikes... that is loud!

romanojg 07-19-2011 12:24 PM

Some people have no respect for things of the past. I have an old feather weight and it is wired for overseas. When I first got it I was going to convert it over to us current until I found out that it was made in Scottland. I'd much rather use an adapter then change who she was made to be. Must have been some really young person who doesn't realize the value of vintage or antiques. Lately I've collected 4 old machines, 1 antique wooden sewing box and an antique quilt. I told my sister I had and addiction. Then I told her I think that it's my way of having things in my house that are older than I am and still functions really well. Just a thought.

LOL

Ok I might as well get on this band wagon; How about West Virginia Blue

chickadeee55 07-19-2011 12:31 PM

I would have thought the person trying to sell this little gem, would have taken the time to take better pictures of it. Right now it does not look worth $700.00. I think the flash is making it look orange-er than it is. I would like to see a more professional picture of it.

Think how cool it would be to sew a quilt for Halloween with it!!!!

jtapp9 07-19-2011 12:34 PM

If it is what someone wants why is it wrong??? It is still the same sewing machine as it was when it was black or whatever color it was...maybe rust by the time this person got it. Several well respected collectors clean up old machines and professionally paint them with auto paint. So what. Not many of the ones we have are really RARE anyway, they are just old. And LOTS of people are throwing them out because they are old. Other people think they have a gold mine because it is "antique"...they are each only worth whatever we are willing to pay for them.

I have a black 301 that the stickers are almost all gone. I love that machine dearly! I have a tan 301 that I really just dont bond with...I'm thinking of getting it custom painted in a sparkly red! Why not...it will still sew the same and then maybe I will feel like it was meant to be mine :)

Everyone is certainly entitled to opinions but wow, lighten up a little and open your mind to the idea that the machine might have ended up in the dump if not refurbished and painted!
