Thanks to amma for instructing me on how to pp I was able to try a block from quilterscache.com. They have a lot of patterns which are paper pieced. I can't wait to make my first pp'd quilt! It may take some time, but I think I'm up for it.

Your first & second attempts are so professional looking. You did a spectacular job. I haven't tried pp, but I've been looking at tutorials & pics. May have to try before long. Thanks.

Iluv2quilt 09-16-2009 05:09 PM

Thank you so much everyone!! I'd like to make a whole quilt of pp'd blocks. All different tho, but in the same color way, just like a sampler quilt. I think it would be fun to do and a great way to use up some of my stash. Amma's tutorial is posted on the forum now.

amma 09-18-2009 09:22 AM

Holy cow!!! How did I miss your post???

Here's one I did tonight - only took me 45 minutes from start to finish!! That's better than all day like my first one! I'm excited - This will be part of my sampler quilt. I couldn't believe all of the awesome patterns on quilterscache.com for paper piecing, they are beautiful and very intricate. What a challenge!! :D :D

Janstar 09-18-2009 07:03 PM

You are doing an awesome job! Keep up the good work!

sharon b 09-18-2009 07:09 PM

Sharon

Iluv2quilt 09-18-2009 07:22 PM

Most definitely Amma, Thank You!!! Now I'm not so limited to just traditional blocks and I'm not afraid to start any new block anymore. Something more to be creative with - YAY!!!!

Thank you Sharon & Janstar!! I appreciate your encouragement!

Sheila Elaine 09-18-2009 07:29 PM

That floral print is gorgeous, well the whole block is gorgeous also. Your work is really great. Keep it up.

katier825 09-18-2009 07:35 PM

You did great on your first try! I don't know how it got the reputation of being difficult...fear of the unknown I suppose. But I think it's pretty easy once you try one. :)

Iluv2quilt 09-19-2009 07:14 AM

Thank you! I was afraid of the unknown when first attempting pp'ing. Ammas tute on it is perfect. I think it's pretty simple now, it takes some time to cut out the material first but is well worth it. I got on a roll with the last block using chain piecing and it went much faster than doing one thing at a time. Good luck to all who try it, it's fun to do!! :D

Shemjo 09-19-2009 07:54 AM

Beautiful work! I LOVE pp as there are no limits! I can do really complicated pieces just one step at a time! You are on your way! GREAT!

Mousie 09-19-2009 10:14 AM

wow, Suzi, this one is gorgeous too. What is the name of it, and I'll go get me a pattern...don't you just love the grammar? :D

Iluv2quilt 09-19-2009 10:56 AM

Thank you! The name of this block is "Beacon Lights" from quilterscache.com. I'm working on "Caned Seat" now, should be pretty nice when done, I hope.
