This is the quilt I finished last week. The pattern is "Patches and Pinwheels" and is available free on the website quiltville.com. I think it's interesting that the two blocks (a 16-patch and a pinwheel) form a new pattern by changing the direction the pinwheels go in alternate rows and by changing the placement of the 16-patch block in alternate rows with a white square or a colored square in the upper corner. It is a throw-sized quilt, 44.5 x 60 inches.

I love your quilt. Are those solids you used in your quilt? I think I am going to try it in my 30's repro fabrics.

I used 8-inch blocks instead of 6-inch blocks as in the quiltville pattern. |
I love it! The colors are great. But, truth be told I did "not" see the pinwheels at first. I saw the 16 patch suspended inside diamonds on point. Loved the look. Now, I see the pinwheels. Super cool pattern.

I making that quilt right now too! I've been admiring it on Bonnie Hunter's website for quite a while. I joined the pinwheel a day challenge as the boost I needed to make it. I put all of the blocks together and added one narrow border this weekend, then a wider pieced border. I really like your pieced border. It was a fun quilt to put together wasn't it? I was 1/4 of the way through putting the blocks together when it dawned on me that I could "fan out" the center of the 16 patch, same as the pinwheels, so that the seams would nest together. After that revelation everything seemed to go smoother and lay flatter. Congrats on finishing yours, I'm aiming for the end of this month to complete mine.
