I think they need to bring sewing back into schools it was such a fun class to be in...Learned alot from it but just wish I would of kept it up and not waited so long to start sewing again..

As a former home economics teacher, I agree with you. The program has changed so much. I think it is now called Human Resources or something like that. The last time I visited the home economics dept. at our local school, I witnessed 17 brand new sewing machines up on a shelf and "no time" for sewing. Breaks my heart!!

Our school had the home economics program years ago and then after it was cancelled the machines just sat there too collecting dust...our principal was wonderful and allowed me to have them serviced 2 years ago for this project...now I am trying to teach the kids how to treat the machines with respect and learn how to use them and clean them and fix the glitches on their own..we spent one day on how to thread etc..so that we can avoid broken needles and frustration...so far they are enjoying it...
