Mareliba, you take my breath away!! WOW  I love it!!!! thank you, thank you, thank you,

mareliba 11-09-2009 09:25 AM

Glad you like it Lori. I really wanted to stay with what you had since your center is fabulous. I scanned the center onto EQ then tried different borders. The one I originally was going to put on it, I did not like. This one just seemed to click with me.

mamabird3 11-09-2009 09:29 AM

That is absolutly perfect for her center... great job!

sew cornie 11-09-2009 10:54 AM

Mareliba, my jaw is on the floor. That is stunning! Oh I am so intimidated by Lori's quilt now. Ack! So glad I have some time to breathe before it comes to me. Simply amazing.

About posting . . . we'd agreed to wait, but there became concern that our thread would be so buried people wouldn't be able to find us. Or that we were being so quiet that we'd be forgotten about. We began posting to bump us back up and regenerate interest. I sent out an email about it last week. I'll double check to make sure I included you. If I missed your name on it, I'm so sorry about that. Hope this hasn't been too inconvenient for you.

Again, beautiful work!

mareliba 11-09-2009 11:19 AM

Thank you, and, yes I did get the e-mails. I just didn't know what we decided.

Wow!! Mareliba you did such an outstanding job on that center!!! Also b.zang you really made that center stand out - the quilt just flows!!

Here is J. Cornie's center w/borders, hope you like it!

  I wanna be ya'll when I grow up! The last 2 borders posted are fantastic! I love them both.....the fabrics on both are just perfect! I'm curious....did you guys go shopping or did you both have the perfect thing in your stash? And...I'm glad you are posting the centers...its fun to keep them coming.

Iluv2quilt 11-09-2009 04:48 PM

I shopped for the brown and red fabric - the horses were in my stash :-)

sandpat 11-09-2009 05:01 PM

They were perfect!

Iluv2quilt 11-09-2009 05:06 PM

Thank you very much! :D It was so much fun to do. I was a bit nervous tho, wanting it to be perfect

b.zang 11-09-2009 06:14 PM

Wow, Mareliba, that border is fantastic!! Makes me feel a little intimidated, knowing that's coming my direction yet.

Suzie - you said the store had the perfect fabric and you sure weren't kidding - it's truly perfect. I need some of that for my GD's quilt.

These last borders are so perfectly suited to the block, there's virtually no sense of "addition".

sew cornie 11-09-2009 08:19 PM

Oh Suzi, thank you so much! I LOVE it!! The fabric couldn't be more perfect and I love the punch of black you added too. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I don't have a large stash (hope that doesn't disqualify me as being a real quilter). I got to go shopping this time and discovered a new-to-me fabric store in the process. I'm hoping that I don't have anything in my stash for future rounds either.

k3n 11-10-2009 12:10 AM

Two more beautiful borders. :D

sandpat 11-10-2009 05:01 AM

I usually don't even check my stash...I love to go shopping with the centers....they deserve to site see when they travel...right????  or at least thats what I tell DH.

mareliba 11-10-2009 06:33 AM

I always wait until I have the center, then look thru my stash, then go shopping! I got lucky with the fabrics for Lori's center as we only have 1 small shop within 2 hours of where I live.

Love the borders so far. I am perplexed on what I am going to do with the next one, but have a few idea's going thru my head.

Lori - Feel free to mail it on early to me.

Wow, ab-fab borders being added here! Such creativity and work that so nicely complements the center! Way to go Design Divas!!

pennyswings 11-10-2009 10:19 AM

Whoa Barbara, that is a great choice for that center. Just Perfect!

pennyswings 11-10-2009 10:21 AM

Mareliba you could not have done a more perfect border for that center. Not only are the colors right on but the design is just Super!! Great Job girls, if you don't mind me saying.

pennyswings 11-10-2009 10:26 AM

Beautiful border for that center Suzic. The colors are perfect and I love the fussy cut corners on the border. Perfect!!!

Ducky 11-10-2009 10:29 AM

Great border, Suzi! Color and print make the center flow together.

LoriJ 11-10-2009 10:33 AM

Hmmm Suzic, I get it next. I'll have to put my thinking cap on. Great job on the border, I really like the horses and rope, really ties it all in.

Hey Lori,
Just checking in . . . are you drying out in NC? Was thinking about you while watching the weather reports this week.

We are finally drying out! Ugh..... I grew up in Washington State, so I'm used to rain, but I've been spoiled out here. We rarely get day after day of rain and grey, so it was wonderful to see the sun and blue sky yesterday afternoon and today. YEAH!! Great excuse for sitting in my sewing room for hours on end.

Where in Washington? I went to college at PLU in Tacoma (well, Parkland actually). Glad to hear things are getting sunnier there.

mamabird3 11-15-2009 10:51 PM

I miss Washington!!!! I grew up in Everett. Am in California now. Oh how I miss the green!

LoriJ 11-16-2009 05:17 AM

Bremerton and Port Orchard. My father worked in the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and I graduated from South Kitsap High School. After I got married, we moved down to Lacey and then Olympia before heading east to North Carolina.

I once wanted to attend PLU. I worked many years in downtown Tacoma.

sew cornie 11-16-2009 08:26 PM

I grew up in Alaska. My only time living in Washington was while at PLU. Can't say I miss living in the Tacoma area, although downtown Tacoma has improved dramatically in the past few years. Lots of effort being put into attracting visitors. They have the Museum of Glass now which is just amazing! Lots of Dale Chihuly glass. Gorgeous.

My only visit to North Carolina was a layover at the Charlotte airport on my way to Elizabethton, TN once. My sister lives there. Beautiful area. She used to be in E. City, NC (Her DH was Coast Guard). My dad was Coast Guard too. Seems like everyone we knew was stationed there at one time or another. Somehow we got missed. :-)

Having our own storm tonight. 96mph winds at the coast. Supposed to be gusting up to 60mph here. Good night to be quilting. :D :D

kwhite 11-22-2009 08:25 AM

I have very quickly gone through all of the IRR threads this morning. What Beautiful work is being done here. We should all be very proud of ourselves. Great job ladies.

Just one week to go! Mailing date December 1st . . . if you're mailing overseas and want to get a headstart, I'm sure that's fine. Remember to add in a postcard or picture with this round. And please PM/email me and your recipient when you've mailed as well as me and your sender when you've received.

Boy, hasn't the time flown. Our next mailing date won't be until Feb. 15th, so plenty of time to relax and enjoy the holidays. Can't wait to see what happens in Round 2!

Any questions, let me know.

Sew Cornie - is there a suggested insurance value to place on the package we send?

sew cornie 11-24-2009 04:32 PM

checking on that . . . I know it was listed in one of the original threads. I'll let you know when I find it.

sandpat 11-24-2009 04:54 PM

Here is what we put together for the original instructions:

Domestic Insurance- Please insure your package. While there is not much consolation if one of our quilts should get lost in the mail, I think that they pay a little more attention when the packages are insured. (Probably not correct, but it does make me feel better). Should anything happen we will have to prove the actual value that we listed as the insured costs…so we should insure them as to the approx. cost of the fabric and then assume the labor at a minimum of $10.00 per hour. I would insure them for $50.00 for the center, round 2- $100.00, round 3-$200.00, rounds 4 & 5- $300.00. If anyone has other ideas…I’m open to them…I’m not an expert at this.

Again...these are suggestions...we will need to be able to "prove" the $ amounts to collect the insurance if something did happen (which I truly hope does not!)
